Local context: test centres for this region

IndianOil has not published a vacancy figure with this notification, so candidates from this region cannot yet judge how competitive their own discipline will be this cycle — that will only become clear once results or a corrigendum are issued. What is already known is where the exam will be held: among the 83 CBT cities listed in the notification, readers in West Bengal have Kolkata and Siliguri; those in Sikkim have no dedicated centre in the list, so Siliguri or Guwahati would be the nearest listed options; and North East candidates have Guwahati, Agartala, Jorhat and Dibrugarh available. This is added context, not part of the official notice. Confirm test centre allotment with the official website once it is announced.

A sandwich diploma (with industrial training and no break) is eligible. A diploma via recognised lateral entry (Class XII Science/ITI admitted into the 2nd year) is eligible, subject to meeting the percentage on the aggregate of 4 semesters. A diploma in a combined or interdisciplinary subject is not eligible.

Higher-qualification bar (Diploma Engineer only): candidates who possess or are pursuing BE, B.Tech, MBA, CA, CS, CMA, MCA, PhD or similar professional qualifications are not eligible for this post; only their diploma percentage is considered for eligibility. Non-professional additional qualifications are not a disqualification. Suppressing information about a higher or higher-professional qualification makes a candidate ineligible at any stage, or leads to termination if already employed.

Candidates checking whether their exact diploma title qualifies can also review the site’s general ITI / Diploma jobs listings for similar current openings.

Common eligibility conditions for all posts

  • Candidates must be able to produce their final degree/diploma and marksheet by 30 September 2026, with marks meeting the prescribed percentage on the aggregate of semesters declared so far. Joining is allowed only if the final aggregate also meets this percentage.
  • Qualifications obtained through part-time, correspondence, distance or online learning are not eligible.
  • A qualifying degree/diploma from a discipline outside the lists above is not eligible, though IOCL reserves the right to take a final call on borderline disciplines.

  • PwBD: minimum 40% benchmark disability; for temporary disabilities, only “progressive” or “not likely to improve” conditions qualify — conditions “likely to improve” do not. Candidates need a certificate in Form V/VI format and a UDID card.

Certificates issued in a language other than English or Hindi need a self-certified translated copy. No change of category is permitted once the online application is submitted.

Shortlisting for GD, GT and PI

Candidates are ranked by their CBT score (out of 100) in descending order, separately for each domain. Qualifying in the CBT does not by itself guarantee shortlisting — it depends on the ranking. Minimum qualifying marks:

CategoryEach Section (A and B)Overall (Sections A+B)
General, EWS, OBC(NCL)40%45%
SC, ST35%40%
PwBD25%30%

Eligibility of shortlisted candidates is verified with original documents before they are allowed into GD, GT and PI.

Merit list

The final merit list is based on a weighted composite score, and candidates must clear the minimum in each component as well as the overall composite:

ComponentWeightageMinimum Pass Marks
Computer Based Test (CBT)85%As per the CBT qualifying marks above
Group Discussion (GD) & Group Task (GT)5%40%
Personal Interview (PI)10%40%

Minimum composite score: 45% for General/EWS/OBC(NCL), 40% for SC/ST, 30% for PwBD.

Scribe and compensatory time for PwBD candidates

PwBD candidates with blindness, locomotor disability affecting both arms, or cerebral palsy may use their own scribe (arranged at their own cost, one qualification level below the candidate’s own, and declared in the application in advance) and are entitled to 20 minutes of compensatory time per hour of the exam. Candidates with locomotor disability/cerebral palsy affecting their writing hand (minimum 40% impairment) get the same compensatory time even without a scribe. Visually impaired candidates (minimum 40% disability) may view the test in magnified font, with the same compensatory time. Compensatory time is granted only to candidates registered for it in advance.

Physical fitness

Final selection and joining are subject to the Pre-Employment Medical Examination (PEME) guidelines published on the IOCL careers page. Diploma Engineer and Quality Control applicants are assessed against the Technical Functions criteria in those guidelines. Medical reports are submitted at the time of joining, if empanelled.

Application fee

SC/ST/PwBD candidates are exempt from the application fee. All other candidates must pay a non-refundable fee of ₹1,000 plus applicable GST, along with any card or bank transaction charges. Payment can be made by debit card (RuPay/Visa/MasterCard/Maestro), credit card, net banking, IMPS, cash cards/mobile wallets or UPI. The fee, once paid, is not refunded under any circumstances, and no chargeback is entertained.

How to apply

  1. Prepare scanned images before starting: a recent colour passport-style photograph (4.5cm × 3.5cm) captured in April 2026 or later, ideally 200×230 pixels and 20–50 KB; a signature in black ink, 140×60 pixels and 10–20 KB; and a left thumb impression on white paper in black or blue ink, 240×240 pixels at 200 DPI (3cm × 3cm), 20–50 KB (right thumb is acceptable if the candidate has no left thumb). All files should be JPG/JPEG. The site’s Photo & Signature Resizer tool can help meet these exact dimensions.
  2. Go to the IOCL Apply Online portal and select “Click here for New Registration.” Enter name, contact details and email ID. A Provisional Registration Number and Password are generated and also sent by email/SMS — note these down; once set, the email ID and mobile number cannot be changed.
  3. Fill the form section by section, using “Save and Next” to save progress and verify entries as you go.
  4. Upload the photograph, signature and left thumb impression per the specifications above. The portal will also capture a live photo via webcam or a mobile phone QR-code scan; this live photo must match both the uploaded photo and the candidate’s actual appearance if shortlisted for GD/GT/PI.
  5. Use the “Preview” tab to check the entire form before submission.
  6. Click “Complete Registration” only after confirming every detail — no changes are possible after this step.
  7. Proceed to the “Payment” tab and pay the application fee (skip if exempt), then click “Submit.”
  8. Save the system-generated application PDF and the payment e-Receipt for personal records; these do not need to be sent to IOCL.

Documents to keep ready: the specifications above for photo, signature and thumb impression; an active personal email ID and mobile number for the entire recruitment cycle (or at least one year, whichever is later); category certificate details (EWS/Caste/PwBD) to enter online, though the certificates themselves are only produced later, at document verification; work-experience proof for Law Officer and Assistant Quality Control Officer applicants; and a No Objection Certificate from the current employer, for candidates already working in a government department, PSU or autonomous body, to be submitted at document verification.

Admit card and exam-day essentials

The call letter/admit card is issued around 15 September 2026, roughly 10 days before the CBT, and will carry the exact date, time and allotted centre. It must be downloaded from the IOCL website using the Registration/Roll Number and Password/Date of Birth; email and SMS intimation will be sent when it is ready. Candidates should affix a recent, recognisable photograph on the printed call letter, preferably matching the one used at registration.

Reporting and gate closure: the exact reporting time and gate-closing time are not given in this notification and will appear only on the individual call letter. Candidates arriving after the gate-closing time will not be permitted to take the exam — there is no exception. Although the CBT itself runs 150 minutes, candidates should expect to be at the venue for about 4 hours in total, to allow for document verification, login and instructions.

Identity proof: the original and a photocopy of a currently valid photo ID bearing exactly the same name as on the call letter — PAN card, passport, driving licence, voter ID, bank passbook with photograph, a photo ID issued by a Gazetted Officer or People’s Representative on official letterhead, a valid college/university ID, Aadhaar/e-Aadhaar, Employee ID, or Bar Council ID. Ration card and learner’s driving licence are not accepted. If the name on the ID does not match the call letter — including after a name change post-marriage — the candidate will not be allowed in unless they carry the original gazette notification, marriage certificate or affidavit.

No request for a change of centre, date or session is entertained, and a candidate may appear only once in the exam for a given post; multiple appearances lead to cancellation of candidature.

Travel reimbursement: SC/ST/PwBD candidates attending the CBT are reimbursed 3rd AC rail fare or actual fare, whichever is lower, claimed online with supporting documents within 10 days of the CBT (or GD/GT/PI). All eligible candidates attending GD, GT or PI are reimbursed 2nd AC rail fare or actual fare, whichever is lower, for the shortest route from the nearest railway station to their correspondence address to the venue and back, provided the distance is at least 30 km; reimbursement is credited to the candidate’s own bank account.

Should you apply for IOCL Recruitment 2026?

IOCL Recruitment 2026 suits engineering graduates, MBA (Marketing) graduates, law graduates with relevant post-qualification experience, M.Sc Chemistry graduates with lab experience, and diploma holders who want a stable, well-paid role in a Maharatna PSU with a defined pay scale, allowances and long-term benefits like gratuity and superannuation. It does not suit candidates whose specific degree title falls outside the lists above, or Diploma Engineer applicants who already hold a BE/B.Tech, MBA or similar professional qualification, since the notification bars them from this grade regardless of their diploma marks.

The trade-off worth knowing before applying: posting can be anywhere in India, including subsidiaries and overseas offices, at the Corporation’s discretion, and joining comes with a three-year service bond backed by a bond amount. On competitiveness, this notification does not state a vacancy count, so how many candidates will actually be selected in each discipline is not yet clear; that typically becomes visible only once a corrigendum or the CBT result is published. This assessment is added context, not part of the official notice — confirm current details with the official website before applying.

FAQs on IOCL Executive Recruitment 2026

What is the last date to apply for IOCL Executive Recruitment 2026?

The last date to apply online is 3 September 2026, till 5:00 PM (1700 hrs), through the IOCL website. No offline or manual applications are accepted.

What is the salary of a Graduate Engineer in IOCL?

A Graduate Engineer (Grade A) starts on an initial basic pay of ₹50,000 per month, in the pay scale ₹50,000–1,60,000, with an approximate CTC of ₹18.4 lakh per annum including Dearness Allowance, other benefits and Performance Related Pay.

Is there an application fee for IOCL Executive Recruitment 2026?

Yes. General, EWS and OBC(NCL) candidates pay ₹1,000 plus GST, non-refundable. SC, ST and PwBD candidates are exempt from the fee.

How competitive is IOCL Executive Recruitment 2026 for freshers?

This cannot be stated precisely since the notification does not publish a vacancy count. Selection depends on CBT ranking within each domain, followed by GD, GT and PI, so freshers meeting the marks and discipline criteria remain eligible to compete; actual competition levels will only be clear once results or a corrigendum are published. This is added context, not part of the official notice.
