Duties and place of posting
The post covers supervision of maintenance of rolling stock. This includes LHB and ICF coaches, wagons, MEMU, diesel locomotives, track machines and tower wagons. KRCL can assign other duties.

Eligibility
Candidates should check each criterion before attending the Konkan Railway walk-in interview. KRCL interviews only candidates who meet the criteria.
- Qualification: full-time Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering from a recognised (AICTE) university or institute. AICTE is the All India Council for Technical Education.
- Experience: at least 1 year after qualification for degree holders and 2 years after qualification for diploma holders.
- Age: not more than 40 years as of 1 September 2026. Candidates can check their age on the site’s age calculator.
- Age relaxation: 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates and 5 years for SC and ST candidates. It applies only when applying against a post of their own category. KRCL decides relaxation for ex-servicemen.
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): candidates must attach a valid caste and non-creamy layer certificate in the central government format. KRCL does not accept a certificate that shows no validity.
- EWS: The notice attaches the income and assets certificate format for Economically Weaker Sections.

What happens at the walk-in
The Konkan Railway walk-in interview begins with a preliminary screening of the applications that candidates submit in person. KRCL interviews only the provisionally eligible candidates.
Depending on the number of candidates, KRCL can add a group discussion or another elimination round, such as a written test. Candidates who clear that round move to the next stage.
A nominated committee conducts the interview. KRCL draws the merit list from interview performance, qualifications, and post-qualification experience. The committee’s decision is final and binding.
Candidates should come prepared to stay for a minimum of 2 days, if required, at their own cost. KRCL pays no train or bus fare, TA or DA. Any canvassing disqualifies a candidate at any stage.

Contract terms and benefits

- Term: initial one year. KRCL can extend it based on satisfactory performance, mutual consent and requirement. Annexure-I mentions one more year.
- Not permanent: the appointee will not be absorbed into KRCL regular service and must give a written undertaking to that effect.
- Posting: KRCL can post or transfer the appointee anywhere in the KRCL establishment at any time.
- Notice: one month’s notice or payment in lieu, from either side.
- Agreement: the selected candidate signs an agreement and a ₹50,000 indemnity bond in favour of KRCL. The stamp paper must be ₹100 or more.
- Medical test: the selected candidate must pass the prescribed medical examination before the contract starts.
- Joining: within 30 days of the offer of appointment.
- Leave: 15 days of earned leave after every 6 months of contract, and 8 days of casual leave a year. Earned leave can accumulate, with no encashment.
- Travel: a complimentary railway pass for duty travel, and TA beyond the project area, as per KRCL policy.
- Stay: a KRCL rest house while on duty if available; otherwise hotel charges as per KRCL rates on production of vouchers.
- Not provided: accommodation, food or mess allowance, and overtime pay for extra hours.
- Existing KRCL contract staff: no notice period applies, but a relieving letter from the concerned KRCL authority is required at joining.
- Statutory benefits: insurance, gratuity and bonus under the New Labour Code-2026, as applicable.
