Selection process

The SBI SCO recruitment selects candidates through shortlisting and interview. Every stage is provisional until the Bank verifies original documents.

  1. Shortlisting: the Bank’s committee sets the parameters. Meeting the minimum qualification and experience does not guarantee an interview call.
  2. Interview: it carries 100 marks, and the Bank decides the qualifying marks. Deputy Vice President candidates also deliver a 5 to 10 minute PPT presentation on the relevant job profile.
  3. CTC negotiation: the Bank negotiates with shortlisted candidates during the interview or on a later date, in order of merit. A candidate who does not agree to the CTC exits the process, and the next candidate is considered.
  4. Merit list: the Bank ranks candidates by interview marks only. Candidates with equal marks at the cut-off rank by age, older candidate first.
  5. Final selection: the top candidates in the merit list with whom CTC is agreed.

The Bank sends call letters by email or uploads them on its website. It sends no hard copy. Outstation candidates get economy-class airfare on the shortest route, on submission of tickets and boarding pass. The limit for both sides is ₹15,000 for the Deputy Vice President posts and ₹10,000 for the Content Specialist post. The Bank pays the actual fare if it is lower.

Should you apply?

The four posts in the SBI SCO recruitment suit senior marketing, analytics and content candidates from banking, fintech, e-commerce and IT. Candidates who meet the 10-year rule fit the Deputy Vice President posts best. The Content Specialist post needs 5 to 7 years.

Competition will be tight for only 4 posts, because the merit list depends on interview marks alone. The Deputy Vice President posts add a presentation, so those candidates need to prepare it on the job profile.

The main trade-off in the SBI SCO recruitment is the term. The contract lasts 3 years. The Bank can extend it at its discretion, and the notice lists no perks beyond CTC. Posting can be anywhere in India, and 20% of the CTC depends on appraisal scores. Candidates from outside Mumbai must weigh the move.

Candidates can also see more government job updates before deciding. Candidates should apply only through the official link and pay nobody for these jobs.
