About TSLPRB

The Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board (TSLPRB), based at the DGP Office Complex, Lakdi-ka-Pul, Hyderabad, conducts recruitment to Police Constable, Sub-Inspector and related posts for the Telangana Police Department. This notification covers only the technical wing of Police Constable — Mechanic and Driver — where a trade certificate or driving license matters as much as the written exam. TSLPRB runs its recruitment entirely online, and its decision at any stage of the process is treated as final.

How this recruitment compares

This notification runs alongside three other TSLPRB recruitment drives dated the same day: SCT Police Constable (Civil) under Notification No. 189/Rect./Rect.-2/2026, SCT Sub-Inspector (Civil) under Notification No. 225/Rect./Rect.-1/2026, and SCT Assistant Sub-Inspector (Finger Print Bureau) under Notification No. 279/Rect./Rect.-3/2026. A candidate applying for more than one of these posts gets a fee rebate for each additional post, and the Physical Measurement Test and Physical Efficiency Test are conducted only once, with the same scores carried across every notification applied for.

Against the wider Police Constable (Civil) recruitment, this Mechanic and Driver drive is a smaller, specialist route. It skips the preliminary written test that Civil candidates sit, and instead tests candidates directly on trade skill or driving before the final written exam. This comparison is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm current recruitment patterns with the official TSLPRB website.

Selection process

There is no preliminary written test for these two technical posts. Selection instead moves straight from the physical stage into a trade-specific test, and only then into the written exam.

No stage can be postponed or reconsidered under any circumstances, and a candidate must attempt every stage in this sequence on the designated day.

Application fee

Application fee details (the actual amount payable) are not mentioned in the official notification — it states only that OC/BC candidates pay the fee “designated in the Online Application,” with a concessional fee for SC/ST candidates local to Telangana. Check the official website for the exact amount once applications open.

One real figure the notification does give: candidates applying for more than one post among the four linked notifications (Mechanic, Driver, PC Civil, SI Civil, ASI-FPB) get a rebate of ₹50 per additional post for Telangana-local SC/ST candidates, and ₹100 per additional post for all other candidates — because the PMT/PET is conducted only once and shared across notifications.

How to apply

  1. Register on www.tgprb.in using your mobile number as the User ID.
  2. Select the post(s) you want to apply for; the fee payable depends on the posts chosen.
  3. Pay the fee using a credit card, debit card, net banking, or another mode available on the website.
  4. Fill Part-I of the Online Application and upload a single combined JPG file of your passport-size photograph and specimen signature (30 KB to 100 KB in size).
  5. Submit Part-I, then download and print the generated application form.
  6. Watch www.tgprb.in for the Part-II Application window — this opens later, after the SCT PC (Civil) Preliminary Written Test concludes, and requires uploading scanned copies of your certificates.

Documents to keep ready:

  • SSC / Matriculation certificate (proof of date of birth)
  • Educational qualification certificate (SSC + ITI trade certificate, or Intermediate)
  • Community certificate (with SC sub-classification — Group I/II/III — where applicable)
  • Non-Creamy Layer certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026 (BC candidates claiming reservation)
  • EWS income and asset certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026 (if claiming EWS)
  • Agency Area (Local ST) certificate, if claiming height relaxation
  • Service certificate (Annexure IV), NCC certificate, or PPO/discharge book/NOC, whichever age-relaxation category applies
  • Study or residence certificate for local candidature
  • Valid HPMV/Heavy Goods Vehicle driving license details (Post Code 36 only)
  • Special category certificate (Home Guard, CPP, MSP), if applicable

Should you apply?

This recruitment suits candidates who already hold a trade certificate or driving license and want a uniformed government job with a defined physical test rather than a purely written exam. The Mechanic post (7 vacancies) suits ITI-qualified candidates from the Auto Electrician, Motor Vehicle Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic or Fitter trades. The Driver post (20 vacancies) suits candidates who already hold a Heavy Passenger or Heavy Goods Vehicle license, since the license must be valid as on the date of the notification itself, not obtained later.

Competition is likely to be meaningful given only 27 posts are notified state-wide, though TSLPRB has not yet announced application dates, so the size of the applicant pool cannot be judged yet. The main trade-off is that these are technical, specialist posts — training and promotion patterns typically differ from the general Civil Police Constable cadre, and a candidate should not assume the two career paths run identically. This assessment is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm current career progression details with the department directly.

FAQs

What is the last date to apply for TSLPRB PC Driver and Mechanic Recruitment 2026?

TSLPRB has not yet announced the last date to apply. The notification, Rc. No. 234/Rect./Rect.-3/2026 dated 29 July 2026, states that exact application dates will be intimated later through a Press Release on www.tgprb.in. Candidates should keep checking the official website for the announcement.

What is the salary of Police Constable Driver and Mechanic in Telangana Police?

Both the SCT Police Constable (Mechanic) and SCT Police Constable (Driver) posts carry a pay scale of ₹24,280 to ₹72,850 per month, as stated in the TSLPRB notification. This applies once appointed to the regular post after successful completion of training.

What is the age limit for TSLPRB SCT Police Constable Driver and Mechanic 2026?

Candidates must be at least 18 years and not more than 22 years old as on 1 July 2026 for both posts. The Telangana Government has separately raised this upper age limit by 5 years for uniformed services under GO Ms No. 87 dated 18 May 2026, with further relaxation for SC, ST, BC, EWS and other categories as specified in the notification.

Is there a written exam for TSLPRB Police Constable Driver and Mechanic?

Yes, but only after a candidate first qualifies in the Physical Efficiency Test and then the Trade Test (Mechanic) or Driving Test (Driver). There is no preliminary written test for these two technical posts, unlike the Police Constable (Civil) recruitment. This is added context, not part of the official notification; confirm the exact sequence on the official website before applying.
