- Degrees through correspondence, distance education or open university are not acceptable.
- Experience must come after completing the educational qualification set for the post.

- Candidates who took part in an earlier round of selection for these posts cannot take part in this IBPS recruitment again.
IBPS may relax the education and experience criteria for a deserving candidate. It may also raise the criteria to limit the number of candidates called. Meeting the minimum criteria does not guarantee shortlisting.
IBPS Recruitment Selection Process
IBPS scrutinises applications on the minimum criteria and gives preference to candidates staying in Mumbai. It decides the shortlisting criteria and the number of candidates called, and its decision is final.
- Scrutiny of applications.
- Verification of documents.
- Online examination at IBPS, Mumbai.
- Personal interview, on the same day as the exam or the next day.
- Merit list. A committee makes the final selection in IBPS recruitment, and only provisionally selected candidates are informed by email or letter later.
Each candidate must score the minimum in every test and also a high enough total to be shortlisted. IBPS sets the cut-offs based on the number of vacancies. The exam is online, in English, with a composite time of 90 minutes. Each wrong answer costs 0.25 of that question’s marks, and a blank answer costs nothing.

Should you apply?
In IBPS recruitment 2026, the Server Administrator post pays the most of the three and suits candidates who have worked on Linux servers and network devices. The work is hands-on system and network administration, so experience limited to monitoring or software development does not match it.
In this IBPS recruitment, the Assistant and Programming Assistant posts share the same basic pay. The Assistant post suits candidates with strong Excel and MIS experience. The Programming Assistant post suits candidates with Unix or Linux file handling and basic programming experience.
All three posts in this IBPS recruitment carry the same conditions. IBPS posts select candidates in Mumbai only, give no housing, asks for a ₹1 lakh service bond for a minimum of 2 years and expects full 24×7 commitment. When many candidates register, IBPS can limit those called by qualification and experience beyond the minimum, so listing every degree and year of experience in the form helps. Candidates who cannot move to Mumbai permanently can look at other government jobs on the site.
