Selection Process and Exam Pattern
Shortlisting for the interview in the LIC HFL apprenticeship rests on the entrance exam result. The Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) Sector Skill Council of India (BFSI SSC) conducts the exam.
| Test | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| General/Financial Awareness | 25 | 25 |
| General English | 25 | 25 |
| Reasoning Ability and Computer Aptitude | 25 | 25 |
| Quantitative Aptitude | 25 | 25 |
| Total | 100 | 100 |
The test lasts 60 minutes and is set in English or Hindi. Selection runs in these stages:
- Online entrance exam by BFSI SSC on 7 November 2026.
- Document verification and personal interview at LIC HFL offices for shortlisted candidates, on 15 November 2026.
- Engagement letters for the final selected candidates. The letter states the training branch, the monthly stipend and the rules of the programme.
- Reporting at the LIC HFL branch for training, tentatively in the 4th week of November.
The exam is online and proctored. Candidates take it from home in full privacy, on a camera-enabled device with good internet. The notice names a desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone in one place and a smartphone with a front camera in another.
Candidates display the Aadhaar card they uploaded on the NATS portal for image capture. Nobody else may sit near a candidate, except for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).
The exam agency compares answer patterns across candidates. LIC HFL can cancel the candidature of anyone whose answers appear shared. It can also debar candidates found using unfair means from its exams and recruitment. Those who have already joined can lose their training place.

LIC HFL cannot hold it for another exam. Candidates should pay only through the official link and never to an agent or middleman.
How to Apply for LIC HFL Apprenticeship
The LIC HFL apprenticeship needs two steps. The first is registration on a government portal, and the second is the application with BFSI SSC.
Step 1: Register on the NATS portal
- Open the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal at nats.education.gov.in and go to the “Student Register/Login” section.
- Register as a student. The “Candidate User Manual” on the portal helps with any registration problems.
- Log in and open the LICHFL apprenticeship advertisement on the portal, then apply.
- Note the Enrolment ID issued by NATS. Candidates need it for all later correspondence.
Step 2: Apply and pay with BFSI SSC
- Watch for an email from BFSI SSC (info@updates.bfsissc.com) inviting a detailed application.
- Fill in the choice of districts for training and the extra details at beep.bfsissc.com.
- Pay the exam fee online by 1 November 2026.
- Check that every detail matches the NATS entry. A change may disqualify the candidature.
- Open the exam link and login details that BFSI SSC emails on the day before the exam.
Queries can go to apprenticeships@bfsissc.com.
Documents to keep ready
- Aadhaar card, the same one uploaded on NATS
- NATS Enrolment ID, login ID and password
- Online payment method for the exam fee
- Camera-enabled device with a good internet connection
After the Training Period
The notice states that an apprenticeship is not employment and that apprentices are trainees. LIC HFL is not obliged to give full-time employment to its apprentices.
Candidates who complete the 12-month LIC HFL apprenticeship get a Proficiency Certificate from the Board of Apprenticeship Training (BOAT). They can then contact the BFSI Sector Skill Council of India for information on placement openings. These cover banks, financial services, insurance companies and other BFSI companies, according to the available vacancies.

Should you apply?
The LIC HFL apprenticeship suits fresh graduates who want paid, on-the-job training in a housing finance company and a certificate to show for it. Candidates who need a regular salaried job should look elsewhere, since the notice makes no promise of employment after training.
Most listed cities carry a single seat, so competition inside one city can be tight. The stipend of ₹14,150 or ₹16,650 may also mean living away from home if the chosen district has no branch nearby.

No. The notice bars candidates who have a running, terminated or completed apprenticeship contract with any other organisation. Only fresh graduates aged 20 to 25 years on 1 October 2026 can apply.
