Selection Process for ITBP Constable Sports Quota

Online applications are scrutinised first, and eligible applicants receive an online admit card for the physical recruitment stages.

  1. Documentation and Biometric Identification: Candidates undergo biometric verification and present original certificates for age, education, domicile, caste, and sports achievements.
  2. Physical Standard Test (PST): Measurement of height, chest (for males), and weight. Underweight or overweight candidates are not debarred at the PST stage; the medical officer makes the final weight fitness decision during the medical exam.
  3. Sports Trial Test: Qualified candidates take a 40-mark practical trial in their sports discipline. The minimum cut-off is 20 marks. Trial marks are qualifying only and do not count toward final merit. Athletes who represented India in an international event with MYAS clearance are exempt from the trial test.
  4. Merit List Preparation: The board draws the merit list strictly from the marks obtained in the sports achievement table. Ties are broken by national competition achievements, younger age, and English alphabetical order of names.
  5. Detailed Medical Examination (DME): Shortlisted candidates undergo medical screening under CAPF uniform guidelines.
  6. Review Medical Examination (RME): Candidates declared unfit in DME can submit written consent within 24 hours to appear for RME, usually held the next day.

No Travelling Allowance or Daily Allowance is paid for the recruitment journey, and candidates must prepare for a stay of more than one day under their own arrangements.

Male candidates in the Unreserved (UR), OBC, and EWS categories must pay an application fee of ₹100 online through the recruitment portal. Female candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories are exempted from paying the fee.

Should you apply?

This recruitment is a strong fit for medal-winning national, university, and Khelo India athletes who want a permanent government salary while continuing their sports career. Because there is no written examination, candidates who struggle with academic tests can clear selection solely on their sports certificates and field trials. The force also provides a clear advantage for athletes from hill regions, Darjeeling GTA, and North Eastern states through generous height and chest relaxations.

However, this vacancy is not open to physically challenged persons or ex-servicemen. National and university players who only participated without winning a medal up to third place cannot apply. Candidates must also commit to a strict 10-year service bond; resigning before 10 years requires refunding three months’ pay and allowances or the full cost of training, whichever is higher. Finally, athletes who do not maintain their sports performance over time must be ready to merge into regular combatized border duty.

This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the hiring office.
