Local Context: How This Deputation Vacancy Compares
This is a deputation vacancy, not a direct recruitment exam. Central autonomous bodies, PSUs and mission offices under various ministries regularly invite serving government officers on deputation for senior finance and administration roles, in a similar manner to this NeGD circular. This comparison is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm current openings on the official website of each department. A deputation posting also differs from a permanent transfer: the officer keeps their parent-cadre lien and normally returns to it once the deputation period ends, unless it is extended or converted. For an officer based in Darjeeling, Siliguri, Gangtok or elsewhere in the North East who is already working in a Central or State Government department, PSU or autonomous body, this route does not depend on local posting location — eligibility here depends only on pay level, qualification and experience.

Selection Process
NeGD does not conduct a written exam for these posts. Selection is through screening of the application, document verification and an interview.
- Applications are received through proper channel in the prescribed proforma (Annexure I).
- Applications are screened against the deputation-eligibility level, qualification and experience set for each post.
- If not already routed through proper channel, the candidate’s application must be complete — with vigilance clearance/integrity certificate and attested copies of APARs (Annual Performance Appraisal Reports) for the last five years — by the time of interview, or it will not be considered.
- The candidate must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) in the prescribed format at the time of interview; applications without a proper NOC will not be considered.
- Selected candidates are deployed on the post as per their grade pay and NeGD’s terms and conditions.
Advance copies of the application can be sent directly by the candidate to meet the 18 August 2026 deadline, but the proper-channel documents must still be complete by the time of interview.

Should You Apply?
This vacancy suits officers already working in a Central Government department, State Government department, PSU, autonomous organisation or statutory body, who are at Level 11 or above (or have completed 5 years in Level 10, Grade Pay Rs. 5,400 pre-revised), and who have finance or administrative experience matching NeGD’s requirement. It does not suit fresh graduates, private-sector employees, or officers below the required pay level — applications from outside government service cannot be considered for a deputation post. With only 1 post open in each domain, competition depends on how many eligible officers across ministries, states, PSUs and autonomous bodies apply — this is different from a large open recruitment drive. One honest trade-off: deputation is a temporary posting, for an initial period of three years and extendable, and pay is tied to the officer’s existing pay level rather than a separate NeGD scale. The notification also lists facilities for deputationists — CGHS/medical reimbursement, government accommodation eligibility, a leased-accommodation option, annual LTA and an IT equipment allowance.
FAQs
What is the last date to apply for the NeGD GM/Sr.GM recruitment 2026?
The last date to send the application through proper channel is 18 August 2026, as per Circular No. N-21012/8/2021-NeGD. Advance copies can be sent directly by the candidate to negdhr@digitalindia.gov.in to meet this deadline.
Who can apply for the NeGD deputation posts?
Only officers currently serving in Central Government, State Government, PSUs, autonomous organisations or statutory bodies can apply, and they must be in Level 11 or above, or have 5 years’ regular service in Level 10 (Grade Pay Rs. 5,400 pre-revised).
What is the salary for GM/Sr.GM posts in NeGD?
The notification does not give a fixed pay scale. Pay is regulated as per DoP&T rules, based on the pay level the selected candidate is already drawing in their parent cadre or organisation.
Is a deputation posting the same as a permanent transfer?
No. This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the hiring office. A deputation posting is for a fixed period — here, an initial three years, extendable — after which the officer usually returns to their parent department, unless the deputation is extended or converted.
