About NCSM

NCSM is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, named as the recruiting body in this notification. Added context, not part of the official notification, confirm with the official website: NCSM was formed on 4 April 1978 and describes itself as the largest network of science museums and science centres in the world, headquartered in Kolkata. CRTL, the venue for this walk-in test, is described on NCSM’s own website as its central hub for research, development and training of museum professionals. This background matters for a candidate because it shows the post sits inside a specialised, long-running government exhibition-design system, not a one-off project office.

Local context: the venue is in Kolkata

This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the official website. The walk-in test venue, 33-Block-GN, Sector-V, Salt Lake, is inside Kolkata’s established IT and commercial hub, home to major software and corporate offices. The area is served by the Kolkata Metro’s Green Line at the Salt Lake Sector V station, and connects to the rest of Kolkata and to Bidhannagar/Salt Lake by regular city bus routes. Candidates travelling from other parts of West Bengal, or from Sikkim and the North Bengal hill towns such as Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Siliguri, will be travelling into Kolkata proper for this test, not to a district or hill-town venue. Since registration closes early, at 11:00 AM, candidates coming from outside Kolkata may want to arrive in the city the previous day; the notification itself does not state this, so this line is added context only.

Should you apply?

This assessment is added context, not part of the official notification. This post suits candidates with a genuine visual-arts or exhibition-design background — a design degree plus hands-on skill in Photoshop, Illustrator or CorelDraw and 3D software like Sketchup or Blender — who want real exhibition-building experience inside a government museum system. It does not suit candidates looking for a permanent government job or full benefits: this is a contract post, capped at two years even with extension, with no HRA, CGHS or medical cover beyond the consolidated pay. Because it is a walk-in test with only 2 posts and a specific software skill-set required, competition will likely come down to portfolio strength and software fluency more than paper qualifications alone. The trade-off is straightforward: lower job security and modest consolidated pay, against practical, multi-project exhibition-design experience that is harder to get outside a museum body like NCSM.

FAQs

What is the last date to apply for NCSM Young Professional (Exhibition) 2026?

There is no separate application deadline, because selection is through a walk-in skill test rather than an online application. Eligible candidates must report in person with the required documents on 12 August 2026, between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM, at NCSM’s office in Salt Lake, Kolkata.

What is the salary of Young Professional (Exhibition) at NCSM?

The post carries a consolidated monthly remuneration of Rs. 30,000/-, as stated in the official notification. The Young Professional is not entitled to HRA, CGHS or other medical benefits in addition to this remuneration.

What is the eligibility for NCSM Young Professional (Exhibition) 2026?

Candidates need a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts, Fine Arts or Commercial Arts, 2 years’ relevant experience, and proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator/CorelDraw and 3D Max/Sketchup/Blender. The age limit is 35 years.

Is NCSM Young Professional (Exhibition) experience useful for a museum-design career?

This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the official website. A contract Young Professional post in exhibition design gives hands-on experience in gallery layout, 3D exhibit modelling and multi-project coordination — skills relevant to further work in museum design, exhibition companies or design agencies, even though the NCSM post itself is time-bound.
