Selection process

ISRO URSC recruitment 2026 treats the stated qualification as the minimum requirement. It does not guarantee a call for the written test. URSC first screens applications and then calls the screened-in candidates.

  1. Initial screening on academic performance and other details given in the online application.
  2. Written test or computer-based test (CBT) for screened-in candidates.
  3. Skill test for shortlisted candidates. Driver posts have a driving test.
  4. Document verification during the skill test.

Technician-B written test and skill test

The written test has 80 multiple-choice questions in 1.5 hours. Each correct answer earns +1 mark, and each wrong answer loses 0.33 marks. The syllabus is curriculum-based.

StageUR pass marksReserved pass marks
Written test (80 marks)3224
Skill test (100 marks)5040

Reserved pass marks apply only if the post is reserved. URSC shortlists candidates for the skill test in a 1:5 ratio, with at least 10 candidates. The skill test is qualifying in nature.

If two or more candidates tie on written test marks and academic marks, the candidate with a valid NAC score gets preference.

Driver posts: written test and driving test

The written test for all three driver posts has 100 multiple-choice questions in 120 minutes.

The written test or CBT for ISRO URSC recruitment 2026 is held in Bengaluru or in other cities across India. The skill test is held only in Bengaluru. URSC can hold the written test online or offline. If two post exams fall in the same session, candidates must choose one post.

Should you apply?

ISRO URSC recruitment 2026 suits 10th pass candidates with an ITI trade and drivers who already hold the required licence and experience. Technician-B has 46 of the 61 posts, so ITI holders in the eight listed trades have the widest choice.

Competition is likely to be high. A 10th pass plus ITI qualification is common, and applications will come from across India. Ex-servicemen hold 29 URSC posts. Of those, 24 are backlog posts that go to candidates of the identified reservation category if no suitable ex-servicemen apply.

The trade-offs are clear. The posts are temporary, though likely to continue. Appointees work round-the-clock shifts and can be posted anywhere in India. Driver candidates face negative marking and a driving test that requires 60 of 100 marks. The ISRO URSC recruitment 2026 notice also asks for experience certificates from organisations only.

Candidates can browse more government jobs for 10th pass and ITI holders before deciding.
