- Departmental candidates of the Supreme Court Registry have no upper age limit.
- Candidates working in other Government departments, Public Sector Undertakings or Nationalised Banks get no age relaxation.
Selection Process

The written test has a comprehension passage, precis writing and essay writing. Candidates must qualify the typing test, because the Registry checks written test answer sheets only for candidates who pass it.
Typing test rules
- The test is in English on a computer, with a minimum speed of 35 w.p.m.
- Mistakes allowed are 3% of the total words typed.
- An error in a word or figure counts as a full mistake.
- A wrong capital or small letter, or a punctuation mark omitted, added or replaced, counts as a half mistake.
Shortlisting
If many candidates score 50 marks or more in the objective test, the Registry shortlists them by merit in a ratio of 1:10 against the tentative vacancies. Based on 250 vacancies, that means 2,500 candidates for the typing and written tests. The interview list follows a ratio of 1:3 for candidates who qualify all three tests.
The Registry uploads the answer keys on 22 November 2026. Candidates can send objections online only, at ₹100 per objection, refunded if the objection is valid.

Application Fee
The fee for Junior Court Assistant recruitment is non-refundable and is paid online only, through the payment gateway of UCO Bank. Bank charges are extra.

- Fill in the online application form. The name, father’s name, mother’s name and date of birth must match the Class 10 certificate or the equivalent certificate.
- Choose test cities in order of preference from Annexure-A.
- Upload a recent photograph, a signature and the required documents as scanned copies.
- Pay the fee online.
- Submit the undertaking that the terms and conditions have been read and understood.
- Preview the form and keep a printout. The Registry does not need the printout.
- Keep the application number safe. It is needed to generate the Admit Card.
A submitted Junior Court Assistant recruitment application cannot be withdrawn or modified. If a candidate submits more than one form, the Registry considers only the latest one.

- The scribe’s qualification must be two to three academic years below the minimum qualification for the exam. An own scribe cannot be a candidate in the same exam or act for more than one candidate.
