  • Matric (Class 10) with a regular full-time 2-year ITI course.

  • Code 114 also needs a “Domestic Data Entry Operator” skill certificate for training of less than one year.
  • The awarding body must be recognised under the National Skill Qualifications Framework or be another authority recognised by the Central Government.
  • The qualification must be acquired between 1 April 2022 and 30 September 2026.

Age limit

The age limit for IOCL apprentice 2026 is 18 to 24 years on 30 September 2026. SC and ST candidates get 5 years of relaxation, up to 29 years. OBC-NCL candidates get 3 years of relaxation, up to 27 years. PwBD candidates get up to 10 years, up to 15 years for SC and ST, and up to 13 years for OBC-NCL. Candidates can check their age on that date with the age calculator.

SC, ST and OBC-NCL candidates who apply for unreserved seats are judged on the standards for the General category.

Where a board or university gives CGPA, OGPA or letter grades, the application must show the equivalent percentage. Candidates must furnish a certificate from the institute stating the percentage at document verification. Without it, IOCL does not consider the candidature.

If the mark sheet omits the date of result declaration, the candidate must submit a Principal’s certificate with the application.

Who cannot apply

  • Candidates who completed the qualification through part-time, correspondence or distance learning.
  • Candidates who qualified the dates listed above.
  • Candidates with a higher professional qualification such as B.E., B.Tech, MBA, MCA, CA, ICWA or LLB, or an equivalent. Candidates who complete a higher qualification on or before joining are also not eligible.
  • PwBD candidates for codes 101 to 111, which cover all Technician and Trade (ITI) disciplines.

PwBD candidates can apply only for codes 112 to 114. The notice names four groups for engagement. They are vision (low vision, blind) and hearing (hard of hearing, deaf). The others are locomotor and related conditions (musculoskeletal conditions, dwarfism, acid attack victims, cerebral palsy, leprosy cured) and multiple disabilities. IOCL leaves out other disabilities because the industry is hazardous. A disability certificate issued under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017 is a must. Without it, IOCL does not treat the candidate as PwBD.

Earlier apprentices can apply for IOCL apprentice 2026 within set limits. A candidate can do at most two apprenticeship trainings, and the second cannot be in the same trade. A gap of at least one year is needed between two trainings once the first is complete. No gap is needed if the first ended through the employer’s fault. After an apprentice ends a contract for health, financial, relocation, transport, career or language reasons, a three-month wait applies. Women face no waiting period. A candidate removed for not following the contract terms cannot enter another apprenticeship.

Selection process

Selection for IOCL apprentice 2026 is on merit. There is no written test or interview. IOCL prepares the merit list from the percentage of marks in the required qualification. The list covers all candidates who applied on the portal for that post and meet the eligibility rules.

IOCL can cancel a candidature at any stage if a candidate gives false information or hides a fact. The candidate may also face criminal prosecution. Completing document verification or empanelment gives no right to engagement.

Should you apply?

The IOCL apprentice 2026 drive suits fresh diploma holders, ITI holders, graduates and Class 12 candidates in the western states. It offers 12 months of structured training at a Central Public Sector Undertaking. Candidates with a B.E. or B.Tech degree, a part-time or distance qualification, or a qualification outside the stated dates cannot apply. Candidates who need a regular salaried post can look at the latest jobs across India. The stipend is a training allowance, and the notice promises no job at the end. One trade-off is that selection rests only on marks, so a lower percentage can reduce the chance of a seat. This is added context, not part of the official notice. Confirm with the official website.
