Category certificates

• SC, OBC (NCL) and EWS certificates must be issued before 27 October 2026, in the annexure formats attached to the notice. Any other format is rejected.
• The OBC (NCL) certificate must rest on income for 2025-26, 2024-25 and 2023-24. OBC candidates also submit the Annexure II-A declaration.
• The EWS Income and Assets certificate must rest on the financial year before the year of application.
• A candidate who cannot produce the certificate when asked is treated as UR.

Physical standards

• Hill and Assam group: Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Gorkhas, Dogras and Marathas, plus candidates from Assam, Himachal Pradesh, the Kashmir region of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.
• North-East group: Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.

Weight must match height and age under the uniform guidelines of ADG (Medical), CAPFs. Candidates who want a height or chest relaxation submit the Annexure V certificate when the Recruitment Board asks for it.

Medical standards

• Distant vision must be 6/6 in the better eye and 6/9 in the worse eye, without glasses. Any visual correction is barred.

A tattoo that has faded substantially after removal counts as a scar. The Presiding Officer can allow such a candidate to continue, and the Medical Board reviews the scar at the Detailed Medical Examination.

Selection process

Practical (Skill) Test

Merit list

ITBPF draws category-wise merit lists from written exam marks. Candidates go to the medical exam in merit order against category-wise vacancies, and the notice provides no reserve list.

SC, OBC (NCL) and EWS candidates who make the list on their own merit count against UR posts. In a tie, the older candidate ranks higher, and then the name that comes first alphabetically.
