Selection Process
For the SAI High Performance Coach post, SAI shortlists applications and calls eligible candidates for an interview. A duly appointed Selection/Interview Committee makes the selection.
- SAI scrutinises applications and shortlists them based on relevant experience and the job description.
- Shortlisted candidates attend an interview at their own cost. SAI pays no TA/DA for it.

Should You Apply?
The SAI High Performance Coach job suits retired officers who already coach at a high level and meet the service rules in the notice. A coaching diploma, a Dronacharya Award, or international participation with a coaching certificate gives the candidate the required qualification. Five years of coaching experience in the relevant sport counts as desirable.
The contract has clear limits. Pay is fixed at last pay drawn minus pension, so the monthly amount depends on each candidate’s own pension. The notice allows no increment or Dearness Allowance, and no accommodation, medical reimbursement or HRA. The term is 1 year or till age 64, whichever is earlier, and the job gives no regular employment in SAI.
Seventeen posts for the whole country can mean tough competition for each posting. Candidates who cannot relocate may find the All-India posting rule hard. Retired officers who still want to coach can compare the SAI High Performance Coach job with other government jobs before applying.
