Physical Fitness Test (PFT) standards
Qualifying the PFT is mandatory for both SSR and MR candidates. The notification sets these standards.
| Gender | 1.6 Km Run | Squats (Uthak Baithak) | Push-ups / Sit-ups |
|---|---|---|---|
| Male | 6 min 30 sec | 20 | 15 / 15 |
| Female | 8 min | 15 | 10 / 10 |
The notification advises that proficiency in sports, swimming and extra activities is desirable. Candidates undergo the PFT at their own risk.
Stage II written exam pattern
Only candidates who clear the PFT sit the written exam. The paper differs by post.
| Post | Questions | Duration | Standard |
|---|---|---|---|
| MR | 50, one mark each | 30 minutes | Class 10th |
| SSR | 100, one mark each | 1 hour | Class 10+2 |
The MR paper has two sections: Science & Mathematics, and General Awareness. The SSR paper has four Sections: English, Science, Mathematics and General Awareness. Both papers are bilingual, in Hindi and English, and objective type. A wrong answer costs one fourth of that question’s marks, and candidates must pass each section as well as the aggregate.

Recruitment medical examination
Candidates who qualify the PFT go through a recruitment medical exam, conducted by authorised military doctors. Key standards from the notification:
- Minimum height: 157 cm for both male and female candidates.
- Vision: uncorrected 6/12, 6/12; corrected 6/6, 6/6; colour perception must be CP Pass.
- Tattoos: permitted only on the inner forearm and the back of the hand. Tattoos anywhere else lead to rejection.
Candidates found medically unfit can appeal at a designated military hospital within five days. A fitness certificate from any other hospital will not count, and no appeal is allowed after that window. The notification advises candidates to get their ears cleaned of wax and tartar removed from their teeth before the medical exam.
Provisional select list and merit
The provisional select list is prepared from Stage II written exam marks, subject to clearing the PFT and the medical exam. The notification treats MR and SSR differently here.
For Agniveer MR, the merit list is based on all-India merit. For Agniveer SSR, the merit list is based on state-wise merit, and the cut-off for the call-up letter to INS Chilka can vary by state. Results for both posts appear on the candidate’s dashboard at joinindiannavy.gov.in.
A candidate’s selection is valid only for the batch they were shortlisted in. Candidates not selected in 01/2027 cannot automatically claim a place in 02/2027.
Details to check on the call-up letter
Candidates should check the following the moment the letter is downloaded: name, registration or application number, photograph, category, batch (01/2027), and the date, time and centre given for Stage II. The notification does not give a separate correction or grievance route for this stage.
Documents to carry
The notification states that original documents must be brought at all stages of recruitment, including at INS Chilka. For Stage II, this means:
- Original certificates and mark sheets, matching the details given in the online application.
- Domicile certificate.
- NCC certificate, if the candidate holds one.
The self-attested certificates and the separate Police Verification Form apply at a later stage, when selected candidates report to INS Chilka for enrolment, not at Stage II itself.

Prohibited items and exam centre rules
Mobile phones and other communication devices are not allowed inside the premises where any Navy recruitment exam is conducted. Breaking this rule can lead to disciplinary action, including a ban from future exams. Misbehaviour or creating a disturbance at the centre also leads to disqualification.
The notification states that a candidate reporting more than 30 minutes after the time given on the call letter will not be allowed to sit the Stage I INET exam. It does not give a separate late-reporting rule for Stage II. Candidates should follow the reporting time printed on their own call-up letter.
Reaching the examination centre
This is added context, not part of the official notice. Confirm with the official website.
Centre allocation for Stage II is at the Indian Navy’s discretion and is not published as a list. Candidates from Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Siliguri and other parts of North Bengal, Sikkim and the North East should check the centre address on their own call-up letter as soon as it is available, and plan their route from there.
