Mumbai Posting and Specialist Cadre Rules

The notice gives Mumbai as the suggested place of posting for both posts. The Bank calls this place indicative. It can post or transfer selected officers to any SBI office in India, or depute them to associates, subsidiaries or other organisations. Requests for a specific place may not be entertained.

Both posts stay in the Specialist cadre, with no provision to convert them into the General cadre. Under the SBI SCO recruitment, the Bank decides posting, placement and use of selected candidates at its sole discretion.

Candidates from North Bengal and Sikkim would need to move to Mumbai, since the notice allows no choice of place. Unlike SBI’s clerk and probationary officer drives, which use written tests, this notice selects through interviews only. Candidates can compare it with other latest jobs across India. This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the hiring office.

Selection Process

The SBI SCO recruitment has no written exam. The Bank selects candidates through shortlisting and an interview.

  1. Shortlisting. A committee set up by the Bank decides the shortlisting parameters and calls an adequate number of candidates. Meeting the minimum qualification and experience gives no right to an interview call.
  2. Interview. The interview carries 100 marks. The Bank decides the qualifying marks.
  3. Merit list. The Bank ranks candidates in descending order of interview scores only. Candidates with equal marks at the cut-off point rank by age in descending order.

The Bank sends SBI SCO recruitment call letters by email or uploads them on its website. It sends no hard copy and decides the interview centre.

Outstation candidates called for interview get economy-class airfare by the shortest route. The Bank counts the trip from the present posting or residence, whichever is nearer to the venue. The limit is ₹10,000 for the return trip or the actual travel cost, whichever is lower. Candidates must submit flight tickets or an invoice and boarding pass. Local transport is not reimbursed.

Selection is also subject to checks on eligibility, certificates, references, antecedents and medical fitness.

Application Fee

The SBI SCO recruitment charges an application fee and intimation charges, and both are non-refundable.

  • General, EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) and OBC: ₹750
  • SC, ST and PwBD: no fee

Candidates pay online by debit card, credit card or internet banking and bear any transaction charges. The Bank does not adjust a paid fee against any other selection. For repeat applications to the same post, the Bank keeps only the last valid one and forfeits the other fees. Candidates who claim a fee exemption must show a valid certificate from the competent authority in the prescribed format at document verification.

Should you apply?

This SBI SCO recruitment suits candidates who already work in forex, rupee derivatives, or equity, forex and debt research. A Chief Manager needs 7 years of experience, and a Manager needs 3 years. Candidates below these limits cannot apply, and teaching or training experience does not count.

Competition is hard to judge, since the notice gives no applicant numbers. Only 7 vacancies exist, and the Chief Manager post is a single vacancy. The selection has no written exam, so shortlisting decides who gets an interview call. A clear experience certificate that names the field matters at that stage.

The main trade-off of the SBI SCO recruitment is the posting. Selected officers are likely to work in Mumbai, can be transferred anywhere in India, and stay in the Specialist cadre. Candidates who want a fixed hometown should weigh this. The site lists more government jobs for those who want other options. This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the hiring office.

FAQs

What is the last date to apply for SBI SCO recruitment 2026?

The last date is 23 November 2026. Online registration and fee payment both close on that date. The Bank allows no changes or corrections after the application window ends, so candidates should check every detail before final submission.

What is the pay scale of SBI Chief Manager and Manager in the SBI SCO recruitment?

The Chief Manager pay scale (SMGS-IV) is ₹1,02,300-2,980/4-1,14,220-3,360/2-1,20,940. The Manager pay scale (MMGS-III) is ₹85,920-2,680/5-99,320-2,980/2-1,05,280. Officers also get DA, HRA, CCA, Provident Fund, NPS and other perquisites as per rules in force.

Is there a written exam for SBI Specialist Cadre Officer posts?

No. The notice sets shortlisting and an interview of 100 marks. The merit list uses interview scores only. Written tests are common in SBI’s clerk and probationary officer drives, so this is a different pattern. This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the hiring office.

Can I apply for both Chief Manager and Manager posts in SBI?

Yes, if the candidate meets the conditions of both posts. The Chief Manager post needs 7 years of experience, and the Manager post needs 3 years. For one post, the Bank keeps only the last valid application. Candidates should apply only on the official portal and never pay anyone for the SBI SCO recruitment.
