The post also covers regular model validation, coordination with auditors and the regulator, and model documents kept ready for audit. The bank lists Python, R, SPSS and SAS among the skills it wants. The SBI Risk Specialist recruitment notice calls the profile illustrative, and the bank assigns actual tasks on joining.

The bank can post selected candidates anywhere in India or depute them to associates or subsidiaries. It may not accept requests for a specific place. Candidates can also browse other current all-India government openings before deciding.

Candidates from Darjeeling, Sikkim, North Bengal and the North East should expect to relocate, since the suggested posting is Mumbai.

Selection process

SBI Risk Specialist recruitment has two selection stages: shortlisting and an interview.

  1. Shortlisting. A committee set up by the bank decides the parameters. Meeting the minimum qualifications and experience does not give the right to an interview call.
  2. Interview. The interview carries 100 marks, and the bank decides the qualifying marks.
  3. Merit list. The bank ranks candidates in descending order of interview scores only. Candidates with equal marks at the cut-off point rank by age, older first.

The bank keeps a category-wise wait list, valid for one year from the final result or until a fresh advertisement for the same post, whichever is earlier. It releases the call letter on its website or by email, with no hard copy.

Outstation candidates called for interview get the economy airfare for the shortest route in India, up to ₹10,000 for the round trip or the actual cost, whichever is lower. The bank does not pay for local transport. Candidates working in government, quasi-government or public sector offices, including nationalised banks, should carry a No Objection Certificate from their employer to the interview.

Should you apply?

This post suits candidates who already build ECL models in a bank, rating agency or risk advisory team. The experience condition is narrow, and only 3 posts are open.

Competition for so few vacancies is likely to be tight, and the bank can still change the number of posts. Selection rests on the interview alone, which puts weight on real model-building work in PD, LGD and EAD. Candidates with an FRM or PRMIA certificate hold the preferred qualification.

The main trade-off is location. The suggested posting is Mumbai, and the bank may post a selected candidate anywhere in India. The post is regular, with a probation period under the bank’s policy.

SBI Risk Specialist recruitment asks for a firm match on experience, so candidates should read the experience rules in full before paying the fee.

FAQs

What is the last date for SBI Risk Specialist recruitment 2026?

The last date is 23 November 2026. Online registration and fee payment both run from 2 November 2026 to 23 November 2026 on the SBI careers site. The bank advises candidates to apply well before the closing date, since heavy load can slow the website on the last day.

Is FRM compulsory for SBI Risk Specialist recruitment?

The notice lists the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) certificate by GARP, or the Professional Risk Manager (PRM) certificate by PRMIA, as preferred. The mandatory conditions are a CA, CFA or MBA / PGDM degree in the listed fields and 2 years of ECL modelling experience.

Is there a written exam in SBI Risk Specialist recruitment?

The notice lists only shortlisting and an interview of 100 marks, and the merit list uses interview scores alone. Specialist posts with fixed experience rules often use this route, so candidates should revise the ECL topics in the job profile. This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the hiring office.
