Reservation and age relaxation

  • Goa Shipyard recruitment candidates from SC, ST, OBC(NCL), EWS and PwBD categories need the certificate in the format for appointment to posts under the Government of India. The OBC(NCL) certificate must not be more than 6 months old at joining.
  • Certificates in a language other than English or Hindi need a self-certified translated copy.
  • Ex-Servicemen and Ex-Agniveer candidates can apply as per Government guidelines. Age relaxation for SC, ST, OBC(NCL), Ex-Servicemen, Ex-Agniveer and PwBD follows Government of India rules. Internal candidates may get extra relaxation as per GSL rules.
  • For E-7 and above posts (General Manager and Chief General Manager), age relaxation equals the extra years of relevant experience above the notified years. The candidate must still have 3 years of residual service on the cut-off date.

Private sector candidates for E-7 and above posts need their last 2 years in a company with an annual turnover of at least ₹100 crore, in a similar role. Candidates on fixed tenure with consolidated pay in a PSU are treated like private sector candidates. Government and PSU employees in the Goa Shipyard recruitment must apply through the proper channel or produce a No Objection Certificate. A document showing the current pay scale and the date since working in it is also needed. Fixed-term posts need no No Objection Certificate.

Selection process

The Goa Shipyard recruitment fills all posts except Junior Manager through interview only. GSL can raise the minimum eligibility for shortlisting if many candidates apply, and it decides the screening criteria.

Junior Manager posts follow these stages:

  1. Written test of 85 marks.
  2. Document verification for candidates who score 50% or more (UR and EWS) or 45% or more (SC, ST, OBC(NCL), PwBD).
  3. Interview of 15 marks, with the same qualifying percentages.
  4. Final merit list on the combined marks of the written test and interview. Age seniority breaks a tie.

Call letters go only to the registered email ID of shortlisted candidates. Outstation candidates called for interview get travel allowance for the shortest route, on proof of journey. Chief General Manager and General Manager candidates get economy class airfare. Additional General Manager and below get AC II tier. Candidates in the Goa Shipyard recruitment with waitlisted rail tickets get no allowance, and payment is made only through ECS.

Application fee

The Goa Shipyard recruitment fee is ₹500 and is non-refundable. Candidates pay online through SBI ePay by debit card, credit card or net banking.

  • SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen candidates pay no fee.
  • Internal candidates pay no fee.
  • Candidates who apply for more than one post must submit a separate application and fee for each post.

How to apply

Candidates apply for the Goa Shipyard recruitment only through the online system. Other modes are rejected.

  1. Visit goashipyard.in and open Notice Board, then Careers, then the GSL Careers link.
  2. Click Apply Online and select the post.
  3. Read the eligibility and terms of the advertisement, then fill in the form and upload the documents.
  4. Pay the ₹500 fee online, if applicable. Do not press back or refresh after submitting payment.
  5. Download the fee receipt. A missing receipt means the payment failed, and the candidate must log in and pay again.
  6. Submit the form. The form cannot be edited after completion, and an unsubmitted form counts as incomplete.
  7. Take two printouts of the form. Send one with the documents to General Manager (HR&A), HR&A Department, Goa Shipyard Limited, Vasco-Da-Gama, Goa – 403802. The printout must reach GSL on or before 2 December 2026.

Candidates facing trouble with the online form can write to recruitment@goashipyard.com. Any corrigendum will appear only on the GSL website.

Documents to keep ready

The Goa Shipyard recruitment form needs these scanned files.

  • Passport-size colour photograph with a light background, below 450 KB
  • Signature on plain white paper in black ink, scanned from the original, below 450 KB
  • SSC certificate as date of birth proof, up to 500 KB
  • Educational mark sheets and degree, up to 1 MB
  • Caste certificate, up to 500 KB
  • Experience certificates, up to 1 MB
  • Aadhaar card, up to 500 KB

Candidates can fix the photo and signature size with the photo and signature resizer if a file is too large.

Should you apply?

The Goa Shipyard recruitment suits experienced candidates. Every post asks for at least 4 years of experience after qualification, and the senior posts ask for 13 to 23 years. Freshers do not meet the experience rule for any post.

Selection is by interview for all posts except Junior Manager, so the shortlisting of applications decides who is called. Many posts have only 1 or 2 vacancies, so competition for each post in this recruitment is likely to be tight.

Candidates weighing the Goa Shipyard recruitment should note two trade-offs. Nine posts are fixed-term, and GSL gives no assurance of regular employment after the term ends. Candidates from North Bengal, Sikkim and the North East must also plan for a posting in Goa, and GSL can deploy staff in any location.

Finance is the largest group with 5 posts across 3 grades, and Deputy Manager (Technical) is the largest single post with 7 vacancies. Candidates should check their category row in the vacancy table before paying the Goa Shipyard recruitment fee.
