The Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) is based in Hyderabad. Articles 315 and 320 of the Constitution of India empower it to conduct examinations for appointment to the posts it notifies.
TGPSC Manager (Engineering) 2026 was entrusted to TGPSC with financial clearance. The Finance Department gave it by Government Order No. 28 dated 12 March 2026. Order No. 37 dated 16 April 2026 is read with it. The Board’s service regulations apply to the appointment.

All posts fall under Multi Zone-II, and allotment is confined to that zone. Candidates must be willing to serve anywhere in Telangana State.
Candidates from outside Telangana will need to travel to one of these centres. Hyderabad, the state capital, has airport and railway connections. This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the hiring office.

Eligibility
Candidates must be citizens of India and must hold the prescribed qualification. Their character and antecedents must also qualify them for the service.
Educational qualification
The post requires a Graduate in Engineering degree, as per the Board’s service rules. Experience is not mentioned in the official notification.
The notification splits the posts by branch as a percentage. It does not give the branch-wise number of posts.
| Branch | Share |
|---|---|
| Civil Engineering | 80% |
| Electrical / Mechanical Engineering | 15% |
| CSE / IT / ECE Engineering | 5% |
CSE is Computer Science and Engineering, IT is Information Technology and ECE is Electronics and Communication Engineering.
The degree result must have been declared by the university on or before 18 September 2026. A completed exam or a result still being processed does not meet this condition.
Age limit
Age is counted as of 1 July 2026. The minimum age is 18 years, so a candidate must not be born after 1 July 2008. The maximum age is 44 years, so a candidate must not be born before 2 July 1982.
Government Order No. 86 dated 18 May 2026 raised the upper age limit by 10 years, from 34 to 44. No one who has crossed 61 years (the superannuation age) is eligible. Candidates can check their age on the cut-off date with the Age Calculator.

Age relaxation
The upper age limit is relaxed for these categories.
| Category | Relaxation |
|---|---|
| SC, ST, BC and EWS | 5 years |
| Physically handicapped | 10 years |
| Telangana State Government employees | Up to 5 years, based on length of regular service |
| Ex-servicemen | 3 years plus length of service in the armed forces |
| NCC instructors (National Cadet Corps) | 3 years plus length of service in the NCC |
Employees of corporations and municipalities do not get the State Government employee relaxation. Ex-servicemen must have left the armed forces other than by dismissal or discharge for misconduct or inefficiency. NCC instructors must have served as whole-time Cadet Corps Instructors for at least six months.
For ex-servicemen and NCC instructors, age after the deductions under Rule 12(c) must stay within the maximum limit for the post. This follows the Telangana State and Subordinate Service Rules, 1996.
Local candidates and Multi Zone-II
Local reservation of 95% applies to all posts under Multi Zone-II. Multi Zone-II covers Suryapet, Nalgonda, Bhongir-Yadadri, Jangaon, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Sanga Reddy, Vikarabad, Mahaboobnagar, Narayanpet, Jogulamba-Gadwal, Wanaparthi and Nagar Kurnool districts.
A candidate is local to an area if he or she studied there for at least four consecutive academic years. The four years end with the year of first appearing for the relevant qualifying examination. The notification defines that as the Seventh Class examination or the exam for the minimum qualification, whichever is lower.
If a candidate did not study during those years, four years of residence in the area before that examination applies. A candidate who is not local can still count as local to one area in the State. This requires seven consecutive years of study or residence in the State. The area is where most of that time was spent. Section 5.2 of the notification gives the full definition.
Reservation and certificates
- Reservation follows Rules 22 and 22(A) of the Telangana State and Subordinate Service Rules, 1996.
- SC, ST, BC, EWS and differently abled candidates who take the age relaxation are also considered for open category vacancies.
- BC candidates must produce a Non-Creamy Layer certificate (Form VIIB). Without it, the candidature is considered against open competition.
- BC-E reservation is subject to the outcome of court cases, including Civil Appeal No. 2628-2637 of 2010.
- Candidates claiming disability reservation go before the Appellate Medical Board, whose report is final. Requests for a re-medical examination are not entertained. A temporary disability certificate does not earn reservation.
Selection process
Selection is by a written examination (objective type). The Commission can hold it in OMR-based offline mode or as a Computer Based Recruitment Test (CBRT). It will announce the mode through a web note or press note and in the hall ticket.
- Written examination (objective type) with Paper-I and Paper-II.
- Merit list in order of marks. If the CBRT runs in several sessions, scores are normalised and results are announced on a percentile basis.
- Certificate verification. The Commission can also check original documents at any time.
- Medical examination. Appointment depends on the candidate being found medically fit.

Examination scheme
| Paper | Questions | Minutes | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paper-I: General Studies and General Abilities | 150 | 150 | 150 |
| Paper-II: Concerned Subject | 150 | 150 | 300 |
| Total | – | – | 450 |
Paper-I is in English and Telugu. Paper-II is in English. Paper-I covers current affairs, general science, environment, economy, geography and history of India and Telangana, the Constitution, reasoning and Basic English (10th class standard).
Paper-II is at the degree level. The notification gives a separate syllabus for Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Communication, and Computer Science and Information Technology Engineering. Annexure-II of the notification has the full syllabus for each.
Qualifying marks
- OC, sportspersons and EWS: not less than 40%
- BCs: not less than 35%
- SCs, STs and PHs: not less than 30%
Securing the minimum marks does not give a right to selection. If marks tie, local status decides first, then the older date of birth, then marks in the subject paper. Section 12.6 lists the further tie-breakers.
Application fee
Candidates pay a processing fee and an examination fee.
- Processing fee for OC and BC candidates: ₹1,000
- Processing fee for SC, ST and PwD candidates: ₹500
- Examination fee: ₹120 for each applicant. Unemployed applicants are exempt. Employees of any Government (Central, State, PSU, corporation or other government sector) must pay it.
The notification does not name EWS candidates in the fee clause. The fee for that category is not mentioned in the official notification. EWS candidates should confirm it with the helpdesk before paying.
Payment is by Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card or UPI. Annexure-V of the notification lists the supported banks. Fees are not refunded or adjusted under any circumstances. Both fees, where applicable, must be paid or the candidature is not considered.

FAQs
Can candidates from other states apply for TGPSC Manager (Engineering) 2026?
Yes. The notification asks for Indian citizenship, the engineering degree and the age limit, and it sets no domicile condition. It also says candidates from other states are not entitled to any reservation. Local reservation applies to all posts, so candidates should read Section 5 first.
Is there negative marking in the TGPSC Manager (Engineering) exam?
Negative marking is not mentioned in the official notification. It gives the questions, minutes and marks for each paper. The Commission will announce the exam mode (OMR or CBRT) through a web note or press note and in the hall ticket, which candidates should read closely.
How can candidates raise objections to the TGPSC answer key?
The Commission publishes the key on its website after the exam. Objections must be filed online through the link on the TGPSC website within the stipulated period. Each question costs ₹500, paid online, and the fee is returned if the objection is sustained. Objections on the final key are not entertained.

No. The notification says requests for revaluation will not be undertaken under any circumstances. After results, candidates can get their memorandum of marks in their login by paying ₹200, within 30 days. Rejected, invalid and disqualified candidates do not get one.
