  • Candidates who did not get the original degree certificate within two years of the provisional certificate’s date of issue.

Selection Process

Selection for the Spices Board trainee posts is through a written test only.

  1. Candidates submit the online application by 25 November 2026.
  2. The Board publishes the details of shortlisted candidates on its website, along with the written test venue, date and time.
  3. Shortlisted candidates take the written test.
  4. The Board prepares a rank list from the results.

The Board pays no travel allowance (TA) or daily allowance (DA) to candidates who attend the written test. Canvassing in any form leads to disqualification. The Board’s decisions on eligibility, the test and selection are final, and it does not entertain representations.

The Board uses the rank list only if a selected candidate does not join by the stipulated date. It also uses the list if a trainee leaves through death or resignation within one year of joining. The list stays valid for up to one year from the date results are published. A fresh notification for the same training ends that validity. Filled posts can never exceed the number notified.

After the Training Period

The Board states that selection as a trainee is only training. It has no link to regular appointment and cannot be regularised at any stage. Candidates who want other short-term training can browse the latest internship and trainee notices on this site.

Training Location in Kochi

The Head Office is at Sugandha Bhavan, N.H. Bypass, Palarivattom, Cochin 682025, in Kerala. A Spices Board trainee spends the full two years at this office. Kochi is far from Darjeeling, Sikkim and the North East, so candidates from these regions must move to Kerala for the period.

Should You Apply?

This training suits SC and ST graduates who want two years of paid marketing training at a central government body. It does not suit candidates who need a regular salaried post, since the notice rules out regular appointment at any stage. Those candidates can browse current all-India jobs instead.

Only 3 Spices Board trainee posts are open, and a written test decides selection, so competition among eligible candidates can be tight. The ₹20,000 is a stipend, not a salary. Candidates from North Bengal, Sikkim and the North East should plan the cost of travel and stay. The notice gives no TA or DA for the test.
