About GRID-INDIA
GRID-INDIA is a Miniratna-I and Schedule “A” Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE), wholly owned by the Government of India under the Ministry of Power. It operates the NLDC and the five RLDCs, and it carries out the technical studies that keep the Indian power system secure, reliable and efficient.
The notice says renewable energy, changing generation and demand patterns, and new grid technologies are raising the need for simulation skills. These include load-flow, dynamic and electro-magnetic transient studies. The GRID-INDIA internship gives interns structured exposure to simulation and modelling tools used on the Indian power system.
Centre-wise Seats and Stipend
Interns in the GRID-INDIA internship train at NLDC or at one of the RLDCs. All seats carry the same stipend and the same six-month term.
| Centre | Seats | Stipend | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| ERLDC, Kolkata | 2 | ₹50,000 | 6 months |
| NERLDC, Guwahati | 1 | ₹50,000 | 6 months |
| NRLDC, New Delhi | 3 | ₹50,000 | 6 months |
| WRLDC, Mumbai | 3 | ₹50,000 | 6 months |
| SRLDC, Bangalore | 3 | ₹50,000 | 6 months |
| NLDC, New Delhi | 3 | ₹50,000 | 6 months |
| Total | 15 | ₹50,000 | 6 months |
Candidates may state a preferred internship location. GRID-INDIA will try to meet the preference, subject to free slots. It does not change a location after the offer is issued.
NERLDC at Guwahati has one seat, the fewest of any centre. Candidates from Darjeeling, Sikkim and the North East may find Guwahati or Kolkata closest, and both cities have rail links with North Bengal. Each intern pays for travel and stay, so rent and daily commute need planning before a location is accepted.

Eligibility
Only Indian nationals can apply. Candidates for the GRID-INDIA internship must be available for full-time, on-site work at the centre named in the offer letter, and must join on the date GRID-INDIA sets.
Minimum qualification
A full-time regular degree in B.E., B.Tech., B.Sc (Engg.) or IDD (Integrated Dual Degree) in Electrical, Electrical (Power), Electrical and Electronics, Power Systems Engineering or Power Engineering (Electrical). The degree must come from a recognised university or institute in India. Marks must be 65% or an equivalent CGPA. Candidates from SC, ST and PwBD categories (Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and persons with benchmark disabilities) need pass marks.
The degree must be complete on or before 6 November 2026. The issue date of the final marksheet counts as the date of acquiring the qualification.
Candidates with a CGPA or letter grade must state the equivalent percentage in the application form, as per their university’s norms. Where the university has no conversion scheme, the percentage is the CGPA divided by the maximum CGPA, multiplied by 100. Percentages run to two decimal places, and rounding up does not meet the threshold.
Desirable qualification
Candidates with these qualifications get preference in shortlisting:
- Full-time regular M.Tech., MSR or M.E. in Power Systems or a closely related specialisation. Final semester students can apply.
- Ph.D. in Power Systems or a closely related specialisation. Research scholars pursuing the degree can apply.
Both qualifications must be from a recognised institution or university in India. Postgraduate, MSR and Ph.D. candidates need a No Objection Certificate from their college or university.
Age limit
The age must be at least 18 years and not more than 32 years on 6 November 2026. Relaxation in the upper age limit follows Government of India directives. Candidates can check their age on the cut-off date with this age calculator.
Who cannot apply
- Candidates who are not Indian nationals.
- Candidates awaiting final undergraduate results on 6 November 2026.
- Candidates who took benefits under the PM Internship Scheme from any organisation.
- Candidates who did an apprenticeship in a Central or State Government organisation under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS), the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) or another applicable scheme.
Selection Process
The notice describes shortlisting and an interaction for the GRID-INDIA internship. It names no written test.
- GRID-INDIA shortlists candidates on the minimum eligibility criteria. Candidates with desirable qualifications get preference, and so do candidates who have not been employed before.
- Shortlisted candidates are called for an interaction at NLDC, New Delhi. No travel or daily allowance (TA/DA) is paid for it.
- GRID-INDIA checks marksheets, transcripts and certificates against the official copies, at the interaction and before the final offer.
- Selected candidates receive an offer of internship with terms and conditions, and the internship location.
GRID-INDIA says it will work towards social inclusion and diversity in the selection. Selection for the GRID-INDIA internship depends on verification of eligibility, academic credentials, employment history and declarations. False or misleading information can lead to cancellation of the candidature or the end of the internship.

After the Internship
The notice states that the offer of internship is not an offer of employment in GRID-INDIA. The internship gives no right to regular employment, absorption or preferential consideration in future recruitment.
Should You Apply?
This suits M.Tech., MSR and Ph.D. candidates in power systems, and graduates with 65% marks, who want hands-on work in load-flow, dynamic and electro-magnetic transient studies at a national control centre. Candidates who need a regular salaried job should skip it, since the internship leads to no employment right. The stipend is all-inclusive, and each intern pays for travel, conveyance and stay, so the real value depends on the city. With only 15 seats across the country, competition for the GRID-INDIA internship is likely to be tight.
