The three dates add up to 22 + 4 + 20 = 46 posts. The number of posts may change with project needs. CSIR-NAL will keep a panel of waitlisted candidates for new projects. The panel stays valid for one year from the date the result is notified, or until the project ends, whichever is earlier.

Engagement at the CSIR NAL walk-in is for a short period and ends with the project. Either side can end it with one month’s notice, or CSIR-NAL pays one month’s stipend instead. Time in one project, or across projects at CSIR-NAL and other CSIR labs, cannot exceed six years in total. The posts give no right to continuation, absorption or regularisation in CSIR.

The Director of CSIR-NAL can raise or cut the number of posts, or cancel the recruitment at any stage. That decision is final.

Other conditions

  • A candidate claiming an equivalent qualification must produce the order or letter that names the authority, with its number and date. Without it, CSIR-NAL can reject the application.
  • A candidate already working at CSIR-NAL or another CSIR lab must bring a No Objection Certificate from the Project Leader or HOD. If selected, the candidate must furnish a relieving order before reporting for duty.

The listed qualifications are the minimum, and holding more does not earn an interview call. CSIR-NAL uses its own shortlisting criteria. Candidates should list every relevant qualification and all experience in the application, with documents. Each detail must be complete and accurate.

Documents to bring

Candidates must carry the following papers to the CSIR NAL walk-in. CSIR-NAL engages selected candidates only after it sees the original documents.

Originals

  • Educational qualification certificates with all mark sheets
  • Experience certificates
  • Caste certificate, if any, in the proper format issued by the appropriate authority under the latest instructions
  • No Objection Certificate from the Project Leader or HOD, for candidates already working in CSIR-NAL or another CSIR lab

Photocopies

Application form and photograph

Candidates must bring a duly filled application form and the latest passport-size photograph. The form is available on nal.res.in and is part of the notice PDF. A candidate who wants more than one position must apply separately for each.

The form asks for the post applied for, specialisation, personal details, category, education from SSLC onwards and employment history. It also asks about NET/GATE status, relatives in CSIR, any bond, and any dismissal or debarment. The candidate signs a declaration at the end.

Extra photocopies and photographs help candidates who apply for more than one position, since each needs its own form. This is added context, not part of the official notice. Confirm with the office.

What happens at the walk-in

The notice sets out these stages for the CSIR NAL walk-in.

  1. Registration and document verification at the venue from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM on the date set for the post. CSIR-NAL allows no registration after 9:45 AM.
  2. Shortlisting, if a large number of candidates appear. The committee can shortlist for the interview using a written exam or any other criteria it considers fit.
  3. Interview before the selection committee. Selection depends on performance in the interview or any other criteria the committee adopts.
  4. Panel and waiting list. CSIR-NAL draws a panel of suitable candidates, valid for a maximum of one year. A place on the panel does not guarantee engagement.
  5. Result. CSIR-NAL notifies the list of selected candidates on nal.res.in.
  6. Joining. Selected candidates contact the Recruitment Section with their original documents within 15 days to get the reporting date and time. CSIR-NAL does not normally extend this period.

The interview may not finish on the indicated day. Candidates must be ready to attend on the next day. The notice gives preference to candidates with experience in the desirable skills and the ability to work in a team. Canvassing in any form, or bringing influence, political or otherwise, leads to disqualification.

Candidates should never pay any agent or middleman for a government job. Those not selected can keep checking the latest jobs across India for other openings.

Should you apply?

The CSIR NAL walk-in suits candidates who can join a research project quickly and accept a fixed term. The posts end with the project, give no right to continuation, and either side can end them with one month’s notice. Candidates who want a permanent post can look at other government jobs.

Some streams have only one or two posts, and a panel place does not guarantee engagement. Candidates from outside Bengaluru should plan their stay early. The notice pays no TA/DA, and the interview can run into the next day. This is added context, not part of the official notice. Confirm with the office.
