Selection process
Selection for the HSFC Medical Officer posts is through screening and an interview. HSFC first screens applications to shortlist candidates. The prescribed qualification is the minimum, and it does not make a candidate eligible for interview or selection by itself.
- Initial screening of applications.
- Document verification, with original documents, at the time of the interview.
- Personal interview, with an option to give it in Hindi.
Final selection rests on interview performance only. HSFC sends the e-admit card by email, so the registered email ID must be correct. Candidates must carry a printed copy, since a soft copy is not allowed. They can follow admit card updates on this site.
HSFC pays outstation candidates the second-class rail fare, non-AC bus fare or actual fare, whichever is less. Proof of travel is needed. Only candidates cleared at document verification get this allowance.

Application fee
The HSFC Medical Officer application fee is ₹250, and it is non-refundable. All candidates first pay ₹750 through the BharatKosh/NTRP portal. HSFC refunds the extra amount only to candidates who appear for the interview.
- Women, SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen are exempt from the fee. They get the full ₹750 back.
- All other candidates get ₹500 back, after HSFC deducts the ₹250 fee.
The last date for the fee is the same as for the form, 8 November 2026. HSFC refunds only to the bank account in the application, and a candidate who skips the interview gets no refund. The platform’s service charge, if any, falls on the applicant.
How to apply
Applications for the HSFC Medical Officer posts go by post only. HSFC does not accept electronic, email or hand-delivered forms. ISRO never appoints any agent or coaching centre, so candidates should never pay a middleman.
- Take the application form (Annexure I) from the HSFC or ISRO website.
- Type the form neatly. A handwritten form is not accepted, and no column may stay blank.
- Paste a recent colour passport-size photo, not older than 6 months, 7 cm high and 5 cm wide. It needs a plain white background and a full frontal face.
- Sign in blue ink in the box below the photo. Selfies and black and white photos lead to rejection.
- Pay the fee on BharatKosh/NTRP and attach the receipt.
- Attach copies of certificates and mark lists that prove qualification, work experience and age.
- Use a separate form for each post. HSFC screens only the last form received for one post code.
- Seal everything in one envelope marked “Application to the post of Medical Officer – SD, Post Code No.” with the post code.
- Send it by ordinary post so that it reaches HSFC on or before 8 November 2026.
Address: Administrative Officer, Recruitment Section, Human Space Flight Centre (HSFC), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Department of Space, Doddannekundi, Bengaluru, Karnataka – 560037.
HSFC emails a registration number to the registered email ID after it receives the form. The notice treats this as the acknowledgement. HSFC is not responsible for postal delay, loss or tracking. Candidates can email rmt-hsfc@isro.gov.in for clarification, but HSFC does not answer queries the advertisement already covers.

Should you apply?
The job suits doctors with an MD or DNB in one of three narrow fields who want to work on astronaut health. General Medicine and Physiology have one post each, so the HSFC Medical Officer recruitment is small. Competition for a single post can be tight.
Selection rests on the interview alone, so a complete application only earns a place in the shortlist. The notice sets no upper age limit, which helps senior doctors. ISRO also runs a Merit Promotion Scheme that reviews staff periodically and does not wait for vacancies.
The trade-offs are plain. The posts are temporary, though the notice says they are likely to continue. HSFC can place a selected candidate at any ISRO or Department of Space centre. Doctors who want a fixed posting can compare more government job updates first.
