About Export-Import Bank of India
The Export-Import Bank of India is a development bank owned by the Government of India. Parliament set it up through its own Act. The bank finances, supports and promotes India’s foreign trade. It lends to Indian exporters, funds overseas projects taken up by Indian companies, and runs lines of credit to buyers in other countries. Its head office is in Mumbai, and it works through regional offices in the cities listed in this notice. Most of its hiring is for officer-grade posts in credit, trade finance and business development. Candidates looking for similar openings can follow the site’s bank job updates.

Posting cities and how this job compares
The bank will post the selected officers in 11 cities. For candidates in West Bengal, Sikkim and the North East, Kolkata is the only posting city in the region, and it has one post. Candidates from Siliguri, Darjeeling or Gangtok can reach Kolkata by rail, road or air, and the bank’s office there sits inside the main city area.
The job is not a permanent bank officer post. It is a contract role with a fixed term, so it does not carry the pension and lifetime tenure of a probationary officer job in a public sector bank. What it does carry is direct corporate client work in a development bank, which is close to a relationship manager role in private banking. Candidates already doing corporate credit or syndication work will find the day-to-day work familiar.

Should you apply?
This one is for working candidates, not for fresh postgraduates. Without two years of marketing or corporate credit experience in a bank, a financial institution or an upper-layer NBFC, an application will not clear the eligibility check. The shortlist is drawn on post-graduation percentage, so candidates with strong MBA marks have a real edge when the field is crowded. With 12 posts and only one in most cities, the competition for a specific city is likely to be heavy.
The honest trade-off is tenure. This is a contract post for three years, extendable by two more, and the extension is the bank’s call. A candidate holding a permanent public sector bank job is trading security for the work profile and the stated pay. For someone in a private NBFC or a mid-size bank, the move is easier to justify. Interviews happen only in Mumbai or New Delhi, so candidates from other cities should budget for that travel.
