About GADVASU
Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) is a state agricultural university based in Ludhiana, Punjab. It runs teaching, research and extension programmes in veterinary science, animal husbandry, dairy technology and fisheries for the state. Its constituent colleges include the College of Veterinary Science at Ludhiana and the College of Veterinary Science at Rampura Phul, Bathinda, where four of the eight posts in this advertisement are based.
This background on GADVASU is added context, not part of the official advertisement. Confirm current status on the Government Jobs category or the university website.
Local Context and How This Vacancy Compares
GADVASU issues faculty and officer-level recruitment when a vacancy opens, not on a fixed yearly cycle. Because of this, postings for senior posts such as Registrar and Director of Research come up less often than routine junior recruitment.
Four of the eight posts sit at the main Ludhiana campus. The other four are at the College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul, in Bathinda district. Rampura Phul has its own railway station on the Bathinda-Rajpura line, and sits on the road connecting Bathinda and Barnala. Candidates from Bathinda, Barnala and nearby Punjab towns can reach the college by road or rail. Those from other states can check wider rail connections through Bathinda Junction.
This comparison and connectivity note is added context, not part of the official advertisement. This vacancy falls under the site’s Latest Jobs (All India) category.

Should You Apply?
These eight posts suit established specialists, not entry-level or early-career candidates. The Registrar and Director of Research posts need 12 years of experience and at least 5 years as Professor or equivalent, so only senior academics already established in veterinary or animal science research should consider them. The Director of Research post is open only to existing GADVASU faculty, so outside candidates cannot apply for it.
The Associate Professor posts need 8 years of relevant experience and a strong publication record, along with a Ph.D. in the specific subject. The Assistant Professor and Scientist posts (Sr. No. 3, 4 and 8) are the most accessible of the eight, open to candidates with a fresh Master’s degree and NET, or a Ph.D. with the stated exemptions.
One trade-off worth weighing: the four posts at Rampura Phul, Bathinda (Sr. No. 5 to 8) are tied to a scheme. The job ends if the scheme ends, and comes without an automatic right to transfer to the Ludhiana campus.
