• Essential qualification: Master’s Degree (M.A./M.Sc.) in Psychology from a recognised university or institution, and a one-year Diploma in Guidance & Counselling from a recognised university or institution.
• Experience: One year’s experience in Guidance & Counseling/Counselling in any recognised school or educational institution.
• Desirable qualifications: Certificate courses from recognised institutes in areas such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy skills, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), behavioural issues and learning difficulties, building emotional intelligence and resilience, and adolescence education.
• Age: Above 28 years and below 50 years as on 31.08.2026.
• Monthly remuneration: ₹44,900/-

B. Hostel Superintendent

• Essential academic qualification: Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university or institution.
• Desirable academic qualifications: Master’s Degree or B.Ed.; proficiency in the regional language, assessed during the personal interaction.
• Prior work experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience in Pay Level-3 (₹21,700/-) or above of the 7th CPC, or an equivalent scale, in any recognised school. OR ex-Defence personnel with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in Pay Level 3 or above of the 7th CPC, or an equivalent scale.
• Age as on 30.08.2026: Minimum 35 years, maximum 62 years.
• Monthly remuneration: ₹35,750/-

NVS Shillong Walk-in Interview 2026 – Selection process

Selection is entirely through the walk-in interview — there is no written exam.

1. Reporting and physical registration at the venue. A maximum of 60 candidates per post are interviewed each day, based on their time of reporting.
2. Document verification — self-attested photocopies of educational qualification certificates, experience certificates, age proof and other relevant documents, checked against the originals.
3. Personal interview/interaction — for Hostel Superintendent, this also assesses proficiency in the regional language.

Candidates must produce a valid experience certificate, wherever applicable, that clearly states the Pay Level or Pay Scale. The certificate must be issued by the competent authority on the official letterhead of the organisation or institution, and must carry the signature, date and official seal of the issuing authority. The notice states plainly that failure to produce the required experience certificate and other relevant documents at the time of document verification will make the candidate ineligible to appear for the interview.
