How the two notices compare

Both notices share the same dates, the same fee, the same CBT pattern and the same maximum age. The difference is the nature of the job. Notice No. 32/2026 is direct recruitment, and those posts carry a probation period of two years. Notice No. 33/2026 is a contract appointment for five years, and the notice states plainly that it gives no right to regularisation of service.

The post mix also differs. Notice No. 32/2026 is built around operations, electrical, electronics, mechanical and civil work, plus ITI-level maintenance trades. Notice No. 33/2026 leans towards information technology, and it adds single posts in corporate hospitality and corporate communications.

Candidates who qualify for both can apply to both. The fee must be paid separately for each post, and the CBT for two posts may fall on the same date and time.

Important dates

The application window is one month long. Both notices follow the same schedule.

Selection process

Selection has two stages in both notices. The CBT decides who moves ahead, and merit is drawn from CBT marks.

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT)
  2. Medical fitness test

The CBT has 100 questions for 100 marks. Each correct answer carries one mark and there is no negative marking. The duration is 90 minutes. The paper can be attempted in Hindi or English. The minimum qualifying mark is 60% for UR, OBC (NCL) and EWS candidates, and 50% for SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen. The syllabus will be published separately on the NCRTC website. Qualifying marks alone give no claim to selection.

Medical standards

Post codesNoticeStandard

D06 to D0932/2026B-1
C01 to C0633/2026C-1
C07 to C0833/2026A-3
C09 to C1033/2026B-1

Lasik surgery and radial keratotomy are not accepted for vision correction under any of these standards. NCRTC pays for the first medical examination. A second examination or re-examination is paid for by the candidate.

Test centre options

Candidates must choose five cities as test centre preferences while filling the form. No change is allowed later. NCRTC can still assign any centre, or cancel or add a centre. The options are Delhi-NCR, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kanpur, Agra, Vadodara, Indore, Thane, Pune, Guwahati, Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Cuttack, Harohalli, Jaipur and Patiala. For candidates in West Bengal, Sikkim and the North East, Kolkata and Guwahati are the closest options on this list. This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the official website.

Application fee

UR, OBC (NCL), EWS and ex-servicemen candidates must pay ₹500. Transaction processing charges and GST are extra. SC, ST and PwBD candidates pay no fee. The fee is not refunded under any circumstances. A candidate applying for more than one post must pay the fee again for each post. Payment is made by credit card, debit card or net banking.

  4. Register first. An application number, login id and password are generated and sent to the registered email and mobile number.
  5. From 10 September 2026, fill in age, personal details and qualification in the online form.
  6. Upload the photograph, signature and certificates in the sizes listed below.

Documents to keep ready

  • Passport size colour photograph, minimum 100KB and maximum 200KB, in JPG or JPEG format
  • Scanned signature, minimum 80KB and maximum 150KB, in JPG or JPEG format
  • Category certificate for OBC (NCL), SC, ST, EWS or ex-servicemen, plus educational and other certificates, minimum 100KB and maximum 1000KB, in JPG, JPEG or PDF format

Should you apply?

This suits diploma and ITI holders under 28 who want technical work on a running metro rail corridor. The pay is solid for the qualification level. Basic pay starts at ₹37,000 in the S1 grade and ₹18,250 in the NS3 grade, with VDA, HRA and cafeteria allowances on top.

The trade-offs are real and worth reading twice. Every selected candidate must sign a surety bond and serve at least three years. The bond is ₹4,00,000 for Supervisor posts and ₹3,00,000 for Non-Supervisor posts. Posts under Notice No. 33/2026 are contract posts for five years, and the notice states they carry no right to regularisation. Posts under Notice No. 32/2026 carry a two-year probation instead. Postings can be at any NCRTC unit, and the work can involve shift duty.

Competition will be heavy at the ITI level, where a large pool of candidates chases a small number of seats. This is added context, not part of the official notification. The 60% qualifying mark for UR, OBC (NCL) and EWS candidates is the first real filter.

FAQs

Can a candidate apply for more than one NCRTC post in 2026?

Yes. A candidate can apply for more than one post, but only one application per post is allowed. The fee of ₹500 must be paid separately for each post. The CBT for multiple posts may fall on the same date and time, so a candidate can sit for only one post.

Is the NCRTC Supervisor-I post permanent or on contract?

It depends on the notice. Posts under Vacancy Notice No. 32/2026 are direct recruitment posts with a two-year probation period. Posts under Vacancy Notice No. 33/2026 are contract posts for five years. Notice No. 33/2026 states that this contract gives no right to regularisation of service.

What is the medical standard for NCRTC Junior Maintainer posts?

Junior Maintainer posts under both notices, post codes D06 to D09 and C09 to C10, need the B-1 standard. This requires distant vision of 6/9 and 6/12 with or without glasses, with power not exceeding +/- 4D. Colour vision, binocular vision and night vision must be present.
