Bank of India released this officer recruitment notice on 1 August 2026 on its official website. Project No. 2026-27/02 covers officers in various streams up to Scale IV. Online applications open on 10 September 2026 and close on 25 September 2026. No centre is listed in north Bengal. Candidates from Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Siliguri or Jalpaiguri will have to travel to Kolkata, Gangtok or Guwahati. The bank will not entertain any request to change the examination centre. It can also allot a centre other than the one a candidate opted for, and it can cancel or add centres.

The application window is short. Fee payment closes with the application window, and both days count.

Even if the last date of registration changes for technical reasons, the dates for fee payment will not change.

Vacancy details and salary

The vacancies below include backlog posts. The bank states that the number of vacancies and the reserved vacancy split are provisional, and can change with its actual requirement. All posts are in the Specialist Officer (SPL) stream.

Scale IV posts

One Chief Manager, Full-Stack Engineering post is marked for a candidate with hearing impairment (HI).

Scale III posts

One Senior Manager, Full-Stack Engineering post is marked for a visually impaired (VI) candidate. One Senior Manager, Information Security post is marked under the orthopedically challenged (OC) category.

Scale II posts

Five Scale II posts carry a disability marking. One each under Full-Stack Engineering and Security Officer are for intellectual disability (ID). Application Support & Operations has one hearing impaired (HI) post, Infrastructure Operations one visually impaired (VI) post, and Law Officers one orthopedically challenged (OC) post.

Scale I posts

One Civil Engineer post is marked for a candidate with hearing impairment (HI).

Pay scale

Basic pay is as printed below. Other allowances and perquisites apply as per the bank’s rules. The notice gives no in-hand figure.

Eligibility

Age, educational qualification and experience are all counted as on 1 August 2026.

Educational qualification and experience

The main notice does not print the qualification and experience for each post. It carries them in Annexure I, a separate file linked from the notice under the heading “Eligibility Criteria for Posts”. Candidates must open Annexure I and read the row for their own post before paying the fee.

Two rules in the main notice do apply to qualifications. Candidates in the SC, ST, OBC or PWD categories applying against a reserved vacancy get a 5% relaxation wherever 60% marks are stipulated, so they need 55%. Graduation percentage must be entered to two decimals, and any fraction is ignored, which means 59.99% counts as less than 60%.

Age limit and relaxation

The minimum and maximum age for each post is in the vacancy tables above. The maximum age applies to General and EWS candidates. Use the age calculator with 1 August 2026 as the cut-off date before applying.

Relaxation for SC, ST and OBC candidates is cumulative with only one of the other categories above. There is no reservation for Ex-Servicemen in the officers’ cadre.

Other conditions

• A candidate must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962, or a person of Indian origin who migrated from one of the countries named in the notice. The last four groups need an eligibility certificate from the Government of India.
• A candidate can apply for only one post. If more than one application is submitted, only the latest completed one is kept, and the fee paid on the others is forfeited.
• Candidates who held a similar post in Bank of India in the past are not eligible.
• Only candidates ready to work anywhere in India should apply.

Selection process

Selection runs through an online test and a personal interview, depending on how many eligible candidates apply. Shortlisting happens only on the documents uploaded at the time of registration. The bank will not accept documents sent later.

Every test except English Language is available in English and Hindi. English Language is only qualifying, and its marks are not added to the merit list. The minimum qualifying mark in each test is 35% for General and EWS candidates, with 5% relaxation for SC, ST, OBC and PWD candidates against reserved vacancies. One fourth of the marks for a question is deducted for a wrong answer. A blank answer carries no penalty.

The interview carries 100 marks. The minimum qualifying mark is 50% for General and EWS candidates and 45% for SC, ST, OBC and PWD candidates against reserved vacancies. Candidates are called for the interview at a ratio of 1:3 to the number of vacancies. Where both stages are held, the weightage is 60:40 between the online examination and the interview.

The bank can also run the selection on the interview alone, without holding the online test. In that case it shortlists candidates directly on qualification, experience and overall suitability. When two candidates have equal marks, the older candidate is placed higher in the merit list.

One practical point from the notice. Outstation SC, ST and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities candidates called for the interview are paid second class to and fro rail or bus fare by the shortest route, or the actual expense, whichever is less, on production of the ticket. Candidates already in government or public sector service do not get this.

Application fee

The fee is non-refundable and can be paid online only, between 10 September 2026 and 25 September 2026.

Bank transaction charges for the online payment are borne by the candidate. Payment can be made by Master, Visa or RuPay credit card, debit card, internet banking, cash card, mobile wallet, QR or UPI. A demand draft, cheque, money order or postal order will not be accepted.

How to apply

1. Go to the bank’s website www.bankofindia.bank.in and click on ‘CAREER’.
2. Click the link “Recruitment of Officers in various streams upto Scale IV, Project No. 2026-27/02 Notice dated 01.08.2026”.
3. In the new window, click “APPLY ONLINE”.
4. Choose “Click here for New Registration” and enter name, contact details and email id.
5. Note down the provisional registration number and password shown on screen. The same details are sent by email and SMS.
6. Use “SAVE AND NEXT” to save work in parts and to check the details before the final submission.
7. Upload the photograph, signature, left thumb impression and handwritten declaration at their marked places.
8. Fill the rest of the form, then click Preview and check the whole form.
9. Click COMPLETE REGISTRATION. No change is possible after this click.
10. Click the Payment tab and pay the fee. Wait for the server response and do not press back or refresh.
11. Print the e-receipt and the system generated application form and keep them. Do not post them to the bank.

Non generation of the e-receipt means the payment failed. In that case the candidate should log in again with the provisional registration number and password and repeat the payment.

Documents to keep ready

• Photograph: 4.5cm × 3.5cm, 200 x 230 pixels preferred, file between 20kb and 50kb
• Signature: signed on white paper in black ink, 140 x 60 pixels preferred, file between 10kb and 20kb, not in capital letters
• Left thumb impression: jpg or jpeg, 240 x 240 pixels at 200 DPI, file between 20 KB and 50 KB
• Handwritten declaration: jpg or jpeg, 800 x 400 pixels at 200 DPI, file between 50 KB and 100 KB, written in English in the candidate’s own hand, not in capital letters
• A live photograph captured through webcam or mobile phone at the time of filling the form
• A valid personal email id and mobile number, kept active till the process ends
• A valid ID proof such as PAN card, Aadhaar card, passport, permanent driving licence or voter’s card
• Proof of relevant professional experience, mandatory certification and education qualifications, for upload

The upload sizes are fixed and the form will block a file that does not match. The photo and signature resizer can bring a scan to the stated dimensions and file size before upload. The declaration text is printed in the notice and must be copied by hand in English.

Should you apply?

These posts suit working professionals, not fresh graduates in most cases. Nineteen of the 22 Scale II posts and every Scale III and Scale IV post sit in narrow technology streams such as DevSecOps, Finacle support, data engineering, API governance and information security. Scale I has the only wider entry, with six streams and the Civil Engineer post. Law Officers, Fire Officer and Security Officer are separate professional routes.

Three trade-offs deserve a look before paying the fee. A selected officer must deposit a security amount, refundable after three years of satisfactory service and forfeited on leaving earlier. Posting is anywhere in India, and the bank keeps the right to transfer. Shortlisting rests entirely on documents uploaded during registration, so a missing experience certificate ends the application with no second chance.

Competition is likely to be heaviest on the large General category blocks, such as the 11 General posts under Manager, Full-Stack Engineering. The smaller reserved lines in Scale III and Scale IV carry single posts, which makes them narrow but less crowded. This is added context, not part of the official notice.
