Eligibility
Age limit (as on 1 September 2026): Candidates must have completed 18 years of age. Candidates must not have completed 35 years of age. This means candidates should not have been born before 2 September 1991. Age relaxation details are not mentioned in the official notification. Educational qualification: Candidates must hold a degree in a computer-related field. The notification accepts B.Sc (Computer Science), B.Sc (IT), BCA, B.E. (Computer Science), B.Tech, MCA, M.Sc (Computer Science), M.E (Computer Science), M.Tech or M.Sc (IT). This is a Graduate-level qualification requirement.
Selection process
Selection has two stages: a written-cum-skill test and a viva voce. The written-cum-skill test lasts 60 minutes and has two parts, worth 25 marks each.
- Written examination — 25 multiple-choice questions, one mark each. Minimum qualifying marks: 10.
- Skill test — 25 marks, testing practical computer skills. Minimum qualifying marks: 10.
- Viva voce — maximum 50 marks, minimum qualifying marks 20. Candidates are shortlisted for viva voce by merit, in a 1:3 ratio, from those who qualify the written-cum-skill test. If two or more candidates score equal marks at the cut-off, all of them are called.
- Final selection — based on the total marks in the written-cum-skill test and viva voce combined. If two or more candidates score equal total marks, the older candidate ranks higher in the merit list.
The written-cum-skill test and viva voce are held at the Principal District Court campus of the district concerned, or another place notified by the District Court. Requests to change the centre are not entertained. The High Court does not send individual intimation for test or viva voce dates. Candidates must check the esk_rec portal and the concerned District Court website for updates. The final selection list is published on the same portal and the District Court website, based on merit. Selection is confirmed only after scrutiny and verification of original documents and testimonials.

- PDF and document handling — creating and managing documents, document types and extensions, Office and Excel basics, PDF creation, conversion, merging and splitting, digital signatures, file naming, organisation and security.
- Video conferencing — basic concepts, microphones, speakers, cameras and displays, audio and video configuration, WebEx, Microsoft Teams and other platforms, hardware and software VC troubleshooting.
- Hardware troubleshooting — basic computer hardware components, CPU, RAM, HDD/SSD and motherboard, printers, scanners and peripheral devices, hardware installation, backup procedures, basic fault identification and troubleshooting, preventive maintenance.
