About DSSSB
DSSSB is a Government of NCT of Delhi board with its office at FC-18, Institutional Area, Karkardooma, Delhi-110092. For DSSSB recruitment 2026, the Board selects candidates against vacancies that the user departments report.
The Board has no role in deciding how many posts a department has. Each department keeps its own reservation roster and checks eligibility under its own recruitment rules. DSSSB then allots candidates to departments by merit and by the preferences they submit.
Local Context for Candidates Outside Delhi
All posts sit in Delhi government departments, autonomous bodies and local bodies, so the place of work is Delhi. The notice says exam centres will be in Delhi/NCR or in other states as decided by DSSSB.
Candidates in North Bengal, Sikkim and the North East can apply for DSSSB recruitment 2026 if they meet the post rules. Para 1 of the notice asks for Indian citizenship, age, qualification and experience.
OBC candidates need extra care. A candidate with an OBC certificate from outside Delhi applies as UR. The only exception is a certificate that meets the conditions in para 7(vi)(b) of the notice.
Both exams in DSSSB recruitment 2026 carry Hindi and English language tests. Question papers are bilingual, except for the language papers. Candidates can also follow the latest jobs across India while this recruitment runs.
This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the hiring office.

Selection Process and Exam Pattern
DSSSB recruitment 2026 uses a separate combined exam for each post code. Junior Engineer candidates sit a two-tier technical exam, and MTS candidates sit a one-tier general exam. The Board will announce the dates on its website.
Junior Engineer (Electrical), Post Code 809/26
- Tier-I computer-based exam. It only qualifies candidates and shortlists them for Tier-II.
- Tier-II computer-based exam. Its marks decide the final merit list.
- Skill, endurance, driving or trade test, taken as the job needs.
- E-dossier upload and scrutiny by the user department, then department allotment by merit and preference.
| Exam | Questions | Marks | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| JE Tier-I | 200 | 200 | 2 hours |
| JE Tier-II | 150 | 200 | 2 hours 30 minutes |
| MTS | 200 | 200 | 2 hours |
Tier-I has two sections of 100 marks each. Section A has five subjects of 20 marks each.
- General Awareness
- General Intelligence and Reasoning Ability
- Arithmetical and Numerical Ability
- Test of Hindi Language and Comprehension
- Test of English Language and Comprehension
Section B has 100 questions from the subject of the required qualification.
Tier-I has minimum qualifying marks in Section B and on the combined marks, with none for Section A alone. Tier-II Part I has 100 one-mark questions on the full syllabus of the qualifying subject. Part II has 50 two-mark questions on applying concepts and solving problems. Minimum qualifying marks apply to Part I and Part II separately.
Multi-Tasking Staff, Post Code 810/26
The MTS exam has 200 one-mark questions in the same five subjects as Tier-I Section A, with 40 marks for each subject. The final merit list rests on exam marks, subject to the minimum qualifying marks. The Board takes a skill, endurance, driving or trade test where the job needs it.
Marks, Ties and Department Allotment
- Each wrong answer costs 0.25 marks for a one-mark question and 0.50 marks for a two-mark question.
- Questions are in Hindi and English, except for the language papers.
- Minimum qualifying marks are 40% for General and EWS, 35% for OBC (Delhi) and 30% for SC, ST and PwBD. Ex-servicemen get 5% relaxation in their category, subject to a minimum of 30%.
- DSSSB can set a higher minimum cut-off for any post. The Board may normalise marks by its published formula (Annexure-III).
- In JE Tier-I, a tie goes to the candidate with more Section B marks. The older candidate comes next, then alphabetical order of first name. Other ties go to the older candidate, then by alphabetical order of first name.
- There is no waiting panel under the Combined Examination Scheme.
Candidates in DSSSB recruitment 2026 submit department and post preferences at the time of online calling of the e-dossier. They must opt for at least one preference. A confirmed preference is final, and the Board allots the first available preference by merit. A mock test link sits on the Board’s website.

Should You Apply?
The DSSSB recruitment 2026 notice suits two groups. Diploma and degree holders in electrical engineering can look at the 185 Junior Engineer posts. Matriculation pass candidates can look at the 1,075 MTS posts.
The MTS exam asks only for matriculation, so many candidates qualify, and competition is likely to be high. DSSSB gives no applicant figures.
Pay differs by post. Junior Engineer posts pay Level 6, and Delhi Transco pays Level 8, the highest pay in this notice. MTS posts pay Level 1.
The main trade-off is the department preference. Candidates set it at the e-dossier stage, and it cannot change. A candidate found ineligible for an opted department gets no other department. The vacancy numbers can also rise or fall, and there is no waiting panel.
Candidates who meet the rules for DSSSB recruitment 2026 should apply well before 11 December 2026. The site carries more government job notifications for candidates who miss the age or qualification rules here.
