About DGQA

The Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA) functions under the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, Government of India. This is added context, not part of the official notification: DGQA is the inspection and quality-certification body for equipment, stores and systems procured for the Indian armed forces, before these items are accepted into service. This particular notification is for the Controllerate of Quality Assurance (Systems), which covers establishments handling systems and electronics inspection work in Secunderabad, Bengaluru, Jabalpur and Chandigarh. A Technician post here is a permanent, Group ‘C’ Central Government industrial job carrying pension and allowance benefits under Government of India rules.

How this compares to other current openings

DGQA’s vacancies are spread across establishments rather than posted through one common all-India process, so notifications like this one appear periodically, each for a different Controllerate. This is added context, not part of the official notification: earlier in 2026, a separate DGQA notification (a different advertisement number, for the Controllerate of Quality Assurance – Heavy Vehicles, with establishments in Chennai and Telangana) invited applications for Technician (Semi Skilled) posts in trades such as Fitter and Electrician. That notification is unrelated to this one — it has a different advertisement number, different establishments and a different closing date. Candidates should not mix up the two while applying. This comparison is based on secondary reports, not a primary DGQA copy, and should be confirmed independently. For candidates specifically eligible for this notification (CQA(S)/2026/Tech(SS) & Tech(SK)), the trade-off is the same across DGQA postings generally: a stable Central Government industrial job, at Pay Level 1 or 2, with an initial two-year probation and liability to serve anywhere in India.

Eligibility

The notification lists eligibility by post category (Skilled / Semi Skilled), not by named trade — it does not specify a trade such as “Fitter” or “Electrician” against each establishment code in this particular advertisement.

Technician (Skilled)

  • Matriculation (10th class pass) from a recognised Board, or equivalent
  • ITI Pass Certificate in the specified trade, or its equivalent Defence Services Tradesman Course approved by the Central or State Government
  • Experience: one year in the specified trade from a recognised organisation or undertaking
  • Age: 18–27 years as on the application closing date

Technician (Semi Skilled)

  • ITI pass in any trade, or its equivalent Defence Services Tradesman Course approved by the Central or State Government
  • Experience: not mentioned in the official notification
  • Age: 18–27 years as on the application closing date

Date of birth must be supported by the 10th/Matriculation certificate or a birth certificate from a competent authority. Aadhaar card is explicitly not accepted as date-of-birth proof, although a self-attested Aadhaar copy is still listed among the application enclosures.

OBC3 years (only for vacancies reserved for OBC)
Ex-Servicemen (Gen/UR)3 years, after deducting military service rendered, from actual age as on closing date
Ex-Servicemen (OBC)6 years (3+3), after deducting military service rendered, from actual age as on closing date
Ex-Servicemen (SC/ST)8 years (3+5), after deducting military service rendered, from actual age as on closing date

SC/ST/EWS/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen candidates must enclose a caste or category certificate from a competent authority (District Magistrate/Deputy Commissioner, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, or Tehsildar-level Revenue Officer, as listed in the notification). Reserved-category candidature stays provisional until documents are verified.

Selection process

Selection has two written stages and no interview. It runs in this order:

  1. Written Test — objective type, multiple choice, 100 questions for 100 marks, in four parts of 25 questions each: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, English Language & Comprehension, and Numerical Aptitude. Duration: 90 minutes. No negative marking. Parts (i), (ii) and (iv) are set in English and Hindi; Part (iii) is in English only.
  2. Shortlisting for Trade Test — based on written test marks and category of reservation.
  3. Trade Test — 100 marks, with 40 marks required to qualify.
  4. Document Verification & Medical Examination — before appointment. Candidates must be found medically fit at a Government hospital; those diagnosed with night blindness or colour blindness are declared unfit for this post.

The merit list is prepared separately for each Trade and Establishment — that is, a distinct list per post/location combination, not one common all-India ranking. In case of a tie, candidates are ranked by date of birth first (older candidate placed higher), then by higher marks in Numerical Aptitude, then Reasoning, then General Awareness.

Application fee

Application fee details are not mentioned in the official notification. Check the official website for updates. Candidates must, however, enclose a self-addressed envelope (30 cm × 12 cm) affixed with a ₹55 postage stamp along with the application, so the admit card can be sent by post. This is a postal charge, not an application fee.

How to apply

There is no online application for this recruitment. Applications are accepted only by post, as follows:

  1. Fill the application in the prescribed Appendix ‘A’ format, typed in English on A4-size paper, in block letters.
  2. Affix one recent passport-size photograph on the application form, self-attested.
  3. Fill the Admit Card in duplicate — Appendix ‘B’ for Technician (Semi Skilled) or Appendix ‘C’ for Technician (Skilled) — and affix one self-signed photograph on each of the two copies.
  4. Attach self-attested copies of all required certificates (educational/technical qualification, experience, date of birth, caste certificate where applicable).
  5. Enclose a self-addressed envelope (30 cm × 12 cm) affixed with a ₹55 postage stamp.
  6. Candidates already working in Government service or a Public Sector Undertaking must route the application through proper channel, with a “No Objection Certificate” from their Head of Office — applications without this NOC will be summarily rejected.
  7. Superscribe the envelope: “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF [Technician (Semi Skilled)/Technician (Skilled)] and CATEGORY [SC/ST/OBC/UR]”.
  8. Send the completed application only by Registered Post or Speed Post — not by hand or courier — to: Controllerate of Quality Assurance (Systems), DGQA Technical Complex, Manovikas Nagar P.O., Secunderabad-500009, within the closing date.

Documents to keep ready

  • Duly filled Appendix ‘A’ application form
  • Admit card (Appendix ‘B’ or ‘C’) filled in duplicate
  • Three recent passport-size photographs (one for the form, two for the admit cards)
  • Self-attested copies of Matriculation/10th certificate, ITI/technical qualification certificate, and experience certificate (Skilled post)
  • Self-attested copy of date-of-birth proof (10th/Matriculation certificate or birth certificate — not Aadhaar)
  • Self-attested copy of caste/category certificate, where claiming SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen relaxation
  • Self-attested copy of Aadhaar card
  • Self-addressed envelope (30 cm × 12 cm) with ₹55 postage stamp
  • NOC from Head of Office, if currently in Government/PSU service

💡 Tips for Sending Application through India Post Service

Send your application by Speed Post with Acknowledgement Card (AD Card) [Posting Charge Starts from Rs. 47/- depending on weight]— you’ll get delivery confirmation right at your doorstep. India Post no longer offers standalone Registered Post (Domestic) as of September 2025, so Speed Post is the safest option now.

Use a thick green envelope to protect your documents from damage in transit. Write your contact number clearly on the back of the envelope.

Arrange your documents in this order before sealing: application form first, then educational certificates, then experience documents. Punch a small hole on the top-left corner of the entire set and tie it neatly with a thread.

Only enclose what is asked for. Extra documents increase postage costs and make it harder for the employer to sort through your application. [This is General tips follow information as advised in official notification]

Should you apply?

This suits candidates with an ITI certificate (Semi Skilled) or a Matriculation-plus-ITI-plus-one-year-experience background (Skilled) who want a permanent Central Government industrial job and are willing to relocate to Secunderabad, Bengaluru, Jabalpur or Chandigarh — and, after that, potentially anywhere in India, since DGQA can transfer confirmed staff per organisational need. It does not suit candidates looking for a desk-based or purely online-application process, or those unwilling to serve outside their home state.

Competition is likely to be tight in specific combinations: several rows in the vacancy table above have only a single post (BLR-046 Semi Skilled, JBP-011, SC-009/1), and because the merit list is prepared separately per Trade and Establishment, candidates are effectively competing only against others who applied for that exact post and location — not against the full applicant pool for the recruitment. One honest trade-off: there is no TA/DA for attending the written test or trade test, and the written test is only 90 minutes for 100 questions across four subjects, so preparation time matters more than for a longer-format exam.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the last date to apply for DGQA Technician Recruitment 2026 (CQA(S)/2026/Tech(SS) & Tech(SK))?

The notification does not print a fixed calendar closing date. Based on the Employment News issue date, this works out to roughly 29 August 2026 and 5 September 2026 — confirm the exact date with the recruiting office.

What is the salary of DGQA Technician (Skilled) and Technician (Semi Skilled)?

Technician (Semi Skilled) draws Pay Matrix Level-1, ₹18,000–56,900, and Technician (Skilled) draws Pay Matrix Level-2, ₹19,900–63,200, both under the 7th CPC Pay Matrix. Both posts also carry dearness allowance, house rent allowance, transport allowance and other Central Government benefits.

Is DGQA Technician Recruitment 2026 apply online or offline?

It is offline only. There is no apply-online portal or link for this recruitment. Candidates must send the filled Appendix ‘A’ application form, admit card, photographs and certificates by Registered or Speed Post to the Controllerate of Quality Assurance (Systems), Secunderabad-500009.

Is this the same as the DGQA Technician Recruitment 2026 notification for 15 posts?

No. This is added context, not part of the official notification. DGQA also released a separate Technician (Semi Skilled) recruitment earlier in 2026 for a different Controllerate (Heavy Vehicles, with establishments in Chennai and Telangana), under a different advertisement number and closing date. This article covers only Advertisement No. CQA(S)/2026/Tech(SS) & Tech(SK) — Secunderabad, Bengaluru, Jabalpur and Chandigarh. Candidates should check the advertisement number on their downloaded notification before applying.
