Eligibility
Candidates must hold a valid Employment Exchange registration certificate in the State of Assam. They must also have English and one local language (Assamese, Bengali or Bodo) as subjects during HSLC.

A candidate must be at least 21 years and at most 40 years old as on 1 January 2026. The Commission calculates age from the HSLC or Class X pass certificate or admit card of a recognised Board or Council. The date of birth must be clearly shown. It accepts no other document for age.

Certificates and category rules
- Caste certificate: candidates seeking SC, ST, OBC or MOBC reservation need a certificate issued by the Government of Assam. It must show the caste, the Act or order recognising it, and the village or town where the candidate ordinarily resides.
- PwBD: candidates need a benchmark disability of 40% or more, with a certificate from the competent authority. Selected PwBD candidates go through a medical examination by a Board. Appointment follows only after the Board confirms the benchmark disability.
- Ex-servicemen: candidates must upload the Ex-Servicemen Identity Card issued by the Zila Sainik Welfare Office of Assam. The Discharge Book is also needed while applying for the reserved post.
- Assam Public Services (Preferential Appointment) Rules, 1999: candidates must indicate their choice in the application portal.
Candidates already in regular government service must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the competent authority as and when asked. Candidates must also submit a declaration on The Small Family Norms in Form-A as and when asked.
