Eligibility

The notification sets a different qualification for each of the four candidate categories. Age limit is not mentioned in the official notification — eligibility is instead based on how recently the qualifying exam was completed.

• Candidates must not have 1 year or more of work experience, and must not have undergone apprenticeship training anywhere else.
• Candidates must not have crossed 5 years since passing their qualifying examination.

Selection process

Selection has no written test — it runs entirely through the walk-in interview, backed by two rounds of document checking.

1. Confirmation and portal registration — send a confirmation email and complete NATS/NAPS registration before the interview date.
2. Reporting and document verification — report with the filled application form and photocopies between 9:30 AM and 10:15 AM on 18 August 2026.
3. Walk-in interview — held at 10:30 AM on 18 August 2026; selection is based on interview performance.
4. Engagement letter and joining — selected candidates receive the engagement letter by email, must send acceptance within 3 days, and must join within 7 days of receiving it. Missing either deadline cancels the selection, with no further correspondence entertained.

Original documents (HSC/10th, +2, ITI, diploma, degree, and other relevant certificates) are checked again at the time of joining, in addition to the check at the interview reporting desk.

3. Fill Annexure-I, affix a recent passport-size colour photograph, and sign the declaration.
4. Send a confirmation email of participation to recruitment.immt@csir.res.in by 11:00 AM on 17 August 2026.
5. Report to S.S. Bhatnagar Hall, CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar, between 9:30 AM and 10:15 AM on 18 August 2026, with the filled form and documents, for registration and verification.

It does not suit candidates who need stable long-term income right away, who already have a year or more of work experience, or who have already completed an apprenticeship elsewhere — the notification excludes both. Competition will vary sharply by discipline: single-seat branches like Modern Office Management, Mechanical Engineering (Diploma), Turner, and PASAA/COPA will likely see far more applicants per seat than Chemical Engineering, which has 4 posts.
