Vacancy details and salary

Eligibility (post-wise)

• Qualification: Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised University, or equivalent (AMIE Section A & B, enrolled with the institute up to 31 May 2013, is also accepted).
• Experience: Two years’ supervisory experience in design, maintenance and construction of structural and reinforced concrete works.
• Desirable: Experience in general administration, maintenance and operation of lighthouses and other aids to marine navigation.
• Age limit: 38 years (OBC).
• PwBD suitability: Deaf, Hard of Hearing, One leg affected, One arm affected, Leprosy Cured, Dwarfism, Acid Attack Victims, Spinal Deformity (without neurological/limb dysfunction), Spinal Injury, Specific Learning Disability, Mental Illness, Multiple Disabilities. • Probation: One year. Post is permanent, General Central Service Group ‘A’ Gazetted, Non-Ministerial. Selected candidates are liable to serve anywhere in India along the Indian coast, including the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep Islands.

2. Assistant Executive Engineer (Electronics) — 9 posts

• Qualification: Degree in Telecommunications/Electronics Engineering/Electronics and Communications Engineering from a recognised University, or equivalent (IETE, or AMIE Section A & B enrolled up to 31 May 2013).
• Experience: Two years’ supervisory experience in the field of radio aids to navigation.
• Desirable: Two years’ experience in generation, supply and transmission of power, with experience in lighting small motors and wiring.
• Age limit: 35 years (UR), 38 years (OBC), 40 years (SC), 40 years (ST).
• PwBD suitability: Deaf, Hard of Hearing (one seat reserved for this category), One leg affected, One arm affected, Dwarfism, Acid Attack Victims, Spinal Deformity (without neurological/limb dysfunction), Spinal Injury, Specific Learning Disability, Mental Illness, Multiple Disabilities.
• Probation: One year. Post is permanent, General Central Service Group ‘A’ Gazetted, Non-Ministerial. Selected candidates are liable to serve anywhere in India along the Indian coast, including the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep Islands.

3. Assistant Director (Engineering) — 1 post

• Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from a recognised University or Institute.
• Experience: Two years’ experience in either (i) design, construction and maintenance of civil engineering works including harbour engineering works, or (ii) maintenance and operation of cranes, diesel locos, marine engines, winches and ancillary machines in a mechanical or marine workshop.
• Age limit: 30 years (UR).
• PwBD suitability: Deaf, Hard of Hearing, One leg affected, One arm affected, Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy Cured, Dwarfism, Acid Attack Victims, Spinal Deformity (without neurological/limb dysfunction), Spinal Injury, Specific Learning Disability, Mental Illness, Multiple Disabilities.
• Probation: Two years, with a mandatory induction training of at least two weeks for direct recruits. Post is permanent, General Central Service Group ‘B’ Gazetted, Non-Ministerial.

4. Superintendent Translation (Hindi Branch) — 1 post

• Qualification — Route A: Master’s Degree in Law, plus two years in one of: state judicial service; a Central/State/UT government post or PSU/statutory-body role with experience in legal affairs; legal practice; teaching law; Hindi translation of statutes; or drafting statutes.
• Qualification — Route B: Bachelor’s Degree in Law, plus four years in the same categories listed above.
• Additional requirement (both routes): Must have passed Secondary School (or a higher examination) through Hindi medium, or have offered Hindi as a subject at that level.
• Desirable: Three years’ experience translating statutes, statutory rules and orders into Hindi.
• Age limit: 35 years (UR).
• PwBD suitability: Blind, Low Vision, Both legs affected (not arms), One leg affected, One arm affected, One leg and one arm affected, Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy Cured, Dwarfism, Acid Attack Victims, Muscular Dystrophy, Specific Learning Disability, Multiple Disabilities.

5. Research Officer — 11 posts

• Qualification: Master’s Degree in Geography, Geology, Applied Geology, Geoinformatics, GIS and Remote Sensing, Geomatics, or Geospatial Technology, having studied Geography or Geology as a subject in all years at the Bachelor’s level.
• Experience: Five years’ experience in Geographical and Cartographical Teaching or Research involving data collection and map preparation.
• Desirable: A Doctorate in the same subject areas.
• Age limit: 35 years (UR), 35 years (EWS), 38 years (OBC), 40 years (SC).
• PwBD suitability: Blind, Low Vision (one seat reserved for this category), Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Both arms affected, One leg affected, One arm affected, Dwarfism, Acid Attack Victims, Specific Learning Disability, Mental Illness, Multiple Disabilities.
• Probation: One year. Post is permanent, General Central Service Group ‘A’ Gazetted, Non-Ministerial.

6. Horticulture Development Officer — 4 posts

• Qualification: Bachelor in Horticulture Science or Bachelor in Agriculture Science.
• Age limit: 40 years (ST).
• Domicile requirement: Open only to Domiciles of the Union Territory of Ladakh, under the Ladakh Civil Services Decentralization and Recruitment – Grant of Domicile Certificate (Procedure) Rules, 2025. A valid Domicile Certificate issued by the Tehsildar in the UT of Ladakh administration is mandatory.
• PwBD suitability: Low Vision, Deaf, Hard of Hearing, One leg affected, One arm affected, Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy Cured, Dwarfism, Acid Attack Victims, Specific Learning Disability, Mental Illness, Multiple Disabilities.
• Probation: Two years for direct recruits. Post is permanent, General Central Service Group ‘B’ Gazetted, Non-Ministerial.

7. Soil Conservation Assistant — 7 posts

• Qualification: BSc Agriculture or BSc Horticulture, OR BSc/MSc Soil Science, OR BE/BTech in Agricultural Engineering, from a recognised University or Institute.
• Age limit: 40 years (ST).
• Domicile requirement: Same Union Territory of Ladakh domicile condition as above applies to this post.
• PwBD suitability: Low Vision, Deaf, Hard of Hearing, One leg affected, One arm affected, One leg and one arm affected, Leprosy Cured, Dwarfism, Acid Attack Victims, Autism Spectrum Disorder (Mild/Moderate).
• Probation: Two years, with a mandatory induction training of at least two weeks. Post is permanent, General Central Service Group ‘B’ Gazetted, Non-Ministerial.

Across all posts, qualifications and the experience requirement may be relaxed at UPSC’s discretion for candidates who are otherwise well qualified, and the experience requirement specifically may be relaxed by up to 50% for SC/ST candidates on the two Ladakh posts if not enough eligible candidates are available.

Selection process

Selection for all seven posts is Recruitment by Selection — there is no written civil-services style examination. UPSC first shortlists candidates from the online application; if the number of eligible applicants for a post is large, a Recruitment Test (RT) or Combined Recruitment Test (CRT) is added before the interview.

1. Application scrutiny and shortlisting. UPSC may shortlist using desirable qualifications, higher educational qualification or experience than the stated minimum, or by holding a Recruitment Test.
2. Recruitment Test (RT/CRT), if held. Ordinarily conducted at Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi, Dispur (Guwahati), Jaipur, Jammu, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Port Blair, Ranchi and Visakhapatnam. For the two posts under the UT of Ladakh, the centres are Leh, Kargil, Srinagar and Delhi.
3. Personality Test/Interview, out of 100 marks. The minimum level of suitability required is 50 marks for UR, 45 for OBC, and 40 for SC/ST/PwBD candidates. Where an RT precedes the interview, candidates must clear the minimum suitability level at both stages.
4. Document verification, against the printed online application and original certificates, at the time of interview.

A practical note from the notification: outstation candidates called for interview at UPSC are reimbursed second/sleeper class Mail/Express train fare, paid by NEFT bank transfer. Candidates should carry two filled copies of the TA bill form, hard copies of their travel tickets, and either a filled NEFT form, a bank passbook front page, or a cancelled cheque.

Application fee

Candidates (except Female/SC/ST/PwBD candidates) must pay Rs. 25/- by Visa/Master/RuPay Credit or Debit Card, UPI, or internet banking.

• No fee for SC, ST, PwBD, and women candidates of any community.
• No fee exemption for OBC, EWS or Unreserved male candidates — they must pay the full Rs. 25/- fee.
• Applications without the prescribed fee are summarily rejected, and no representation against such rejection is entertained.
• Fee once paid is non-refundable under any circumstance and cannot be carried forward to another selection.

How to apply

1. Visit the UPSC Online Recruitment Application portal at upsconline.nic.in/ora and create an account.
2. Complete the Universal Registration Number (URN) profile — this generates a URN common to all UPSC recruitments, editable once via a one-time edit facility.
3. Fill the Common Application Form (CAF), uploading your photograph, capturing a live photograph, and uploading a signature (signed three times on plain white paper in black ink).
4. Fill the fourth, post/vacancy-specific module for Advertisement No. 10/2026, selecting the correct Vacancy Number for the post you are applying to.
5. Upload the required supporting documents separately against each claim, in PDF format.
6. Pay the application fee, if applicable, through card, UPI or net banking.
7. Submit the application. No withdrawal, correction or alteration is allowed after submission.

• Any age-relaxation certificate applicable (Ex-servicemen, Central/UT Government employee, etc.).
