About the organisation
The Reserve Bank of India is the country’s central bank, responsible for monetary policy, currency issue and regulation of the banking sector. Its Lucknow office is a Regional Office serving Uttar Pradesh, and its Human Resource Management Department handles staff welfare matters, including this engagement of a part-time medical consultant for the Bank’s own staff dispensary. For a doctor, this is a chance to hold a defined government-linked contract alongside an existing practice.

Local context / how this vacancy compares
This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the hiring office. Unlike RBI’s large recruitment drives for Officers or Assistants, which fill many posts through a written examination followed by interview, this notice is for a single specialist post filled directly through interview and document scrutiny, with no written test stage. It suits a practising doctor looking for a fixed, part-time government assignment rather than a full-time banking career. Because only one vacancy exists and the residence-proximity condition narrows the eligible pool to doctors already based near Aliganj, competition is likely to come mainly from local general practitioners rather than doctors relocating from other cities.
Important dates
Only one date is announced in this notification — the closing date for postal applications.

The Bank can raise the minimum eligibility standards to limit the number of candidates called for interview, and only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
- Interview of shortlisted candidates. Meeting the eligibility criteria alone does not entitle a candidate to an interview call, and RBI will not correspond with applicants who are not shortlisted.
- Document verification of the shortlisted applicant.

Should you apply?
This role suits a doctor already established in general practice near Aliganj, Lucknow, who wants a fixed, part-time government engagement alongside an existing practice — the duty hours (about four hours a day, six days a week) leave the rest of the day free. It does not suit doctors who need a full-time salaried position, since the remuneration is fixed per hour with no pension, provident fund, gratuity or leave, and the contract runs for three years with no renewal after that. This is added context, not part of the official notification; confirm current demand with the hiring office. Competition should be moderate rather than heavy: only one vacancy exists, and the residence condition narrows the pool to doctors already based in that part of Lucknow. The main trade-off is stability versus flexibility — a fixed, non-renewable three-year contract with no long-term benefits, in exchange for a defined government-linked assignment that can be run alongside private practice.
