Local context

This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the hiring office. Project-based openings like this one are common at central government research societies such as C-MET, CSIR labs and DRDO establishments. They usually move faster than regular recruitment, since there is no long online application cycle, but the posts end when the project ends rather than continuing as permanent government jobs.

C-MET hosts any addendum or corrigendum only on its own website, cmet.gov.in. Candidates should check it before the interview date.

Should you apply?

C-MET Walk-in Interview 2026 suits candidates who want research or project experience at a central government lab, not a long-term government career. The Project Scientist post fits a Ph.D. holder or an M.E./M.Tech candidate with research papers and a genuine interest in metallurgy or materials science. The Technical and Admin posts fit diploma holders and graduates looking for short government project experience.

The honest trade-off: every post here is temporary, and the project is currently extended only up to 5 March 2027. That is under six months from the interview date. There is no right to regularisation or absorption into C-MET once the project ends. Candidates who need a stable, long-term government job should treat this as short-term experience, not as a career post.
