Selection process for APPSC Group A & B
The selection process for APPSC Recruitment (Group A & B) runs through up to three stages, depending on how many candidates apply.
- Recruitment Test (Objective Type) — held only if the number of applicants for a post crosses the requisite ratio. It works as a screening stage only, and its marks do not count toward final merit. For Finance & Accounts Officer/Treasury Officer and Sub-Treasury Officer, the paper covers Commercial Mathematics and General Awareness & Current Affairs, 200 marks total. For the two prosecution posts, it covers the Concerned Subject, also 200 marks. Of the candidates who clear this stage, 12 times the number of advertised posts move to the Written Examination.
- Written Examination — General English and General Studies (150 marks, objective), plus two Concerned Subject papers (150 marks each, descriptive).
- Viva-Voce — 50 marks, for a combined total of 500 marks across all stages.
For the finance posts, the Concerned Subject is any one of Commerce, Economics, Statistics or Mathematics, Paper-I and Paper-II. For Assistant Director (Prosecution) and Assistant Public Prosecutor, Paper-I covers Core Criminal Laws and Paper-II covers Constitutional Law and Other Special Legislations.
To qualify for the viva-voce, a candidate needs an aggregate of 33% in the written examination, with at least 20% in each paper. PwBD candidates need an aggregate of 20%, with at least 10% in each paper. About 3 times the number of advertised vacancies are called for interview.
Application fee
Candidates applying for APPSC Finance & Prosecution Recruitment 2026 must pay ₹200 online. PwBD candidates are exempted from this fee under Section 19 of the Arunachal Pradesh Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2018.

Should you apply?
APPSC Finance & Prosecution Recruitment 2026 suits candidates who already hold Arunachal Pradesh’s Permanent Resident Certificate and an APST Certificate. Candidates outside Arunachal Pradesh, including readers elsewhere in the North East, cannot apply, since the notification restricts eligibility to indigenous APST holders with tribal language proficiency. This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the official website.
Among eligible candidates, the four posts suit different backgrounds. Commerce, Economics, Statistics or Mathematics graduates fit the two finance posts, both gazetted roles with long-term pension benefits. Law graduates fit the two prosecution posts, but only after 7 years of active criminal-law practice or a Magistrate of the First Class appointment. This experience bar rules out fresh LLB graduates and narrows the eligible pool considerably. This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the official website.
Candidates in their final semester can still apply for the finance posts, provided they prove the qualifying degree before their interview.
