- Document Verification — candidates in the written-test merit list are called in a ratio of up to 1:7 per vacancy (7 candidates per post, in order of merit); if fewer candidates clear the written test than this ratio, all of them are called.
- Skill Test / Trade Test (qualifying only) — an internal committee marks candidates “Suitable” or “Not Suitable.” The Final Merit List is then drawn from written-test marks alone, after eliminating “Not Suitable” candidates.
Selection is followed by a medical fitness examination by a Government Medical Officer or CMO of a Government Hospital. For Junior Driver, Mechanic, Mechanic-cum-Operator (Drilling), Machinist, Technician (Drilling) and Electrician, absence of colour blindness and night blindness is a mandatory requirement in the medical protocol. No travelling allowance (TA) is paid for the written test, document verification, skill test or trade test.
