Selection process for ITBP Medical Officer Recruitment 2026
Selection process for ITBP Medical Officer Recruitment 2026 has four stages and no written exam. Candidates whose online applications are found in order are issued an e-admit card for Documentation & Interview.
- Documentation — verification of the admit card printout and original testimonials with self-attested copies.
- Interview — 200 marks, testing general knowledge, academic ability, personality, judgment and leadership. Minimum qualifying marks are 40% (80 out of 200), the same for every category. Candidates who do not clear this stage are eliminated.
- Physical Standard Test (PST) — conducted the same day or the day after the interview; candidates who fail can appeal the same day to the centre’s appellate authority, whose decision is final.
- Medical Examination Test (MET) — conducted the same day or the day after PST. Candidates declared “Unfit” may apply in writing within 24 hours for a Review Medical Examination (RME), normally held the next day.
A separate merit list is prepared for SC/ST, OBC (NCL) and EWS candidates, in addition to the general merit list, based on aggregate interview marks.

Height is relaxable by 2 cm for Gorkhas, Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Dogras, Marathas and candidates from Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, the Kashmir region of J&K, and Ladakh; and by 3 cm for Scheduled Tribe candidates.
Eyesight standards require corrected near vision of N6/N9 and corrected distant vision of 6/6 or 6/9 (worse eye 6/9 or 6/12), colour vision of CP-III on Ishihara plates, and no history of Radial Keratotomy. LASIK correction is permitted only within set limits: a minimum 6-month gap since surgery, age 20–35 at the time of surgery, axial length between 21–26 mm, corneal thickness of 425 microns, pre-LASIK error within 6D, and normal retinal status. On tattoos, only religious symbols or a name are allowed, restricted to the left forearm (inner side) or the back of the hands, and sized under a quarter of that body part.
