Minimum Physical Measurement Test (PMT) standards

Only candidates who qualify the PMT are allowed to take the PET.

Selection process

Selection runs in three stages, in this order:

1. Physical Measurement Test (PMT) — qualifying only. Tests height, weight and chest against the standards above.
2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) — qualifying only, open to candidates who clear the PMT. Tests running, swimming, floating, diving, moving an article in water, and push-ups.
3. Written Examination — 50 marks, OMR-based, multiple-choice, 1 hour duration, 50 questions of 1 mark each. Each wrong answer carries a penalty of ¼ mark (0.25 mark) negative marking.

The PMT and PET are qualifying stages only — a candidate’s rank in the final merit list is decided entirely by the marks obtained in the Written Examination. The list of candidates called for PMT and PET will be published on the SDO Office, Contai notice board, not online. If two or more candidates score the same total marks, seniority in the merit list is decided first by who has completed more Advanced Civil Defence training, then by age (older candidate ranked higher), and if the date of birth is also the same, by the Sub-Divisional Officer, Contai’s decision.
