About Union Bank of India
Union Bank of India is one of the leading public sector banks and a Government of India undertaking, with its Central Office in Mumbai. The Bank has a pan-India network and an overseas presence. For candidates, this recruitment offers direct entry at officer level — from Manager up to Deputy General Manager — in both general banking and specialised roles such as IT, cybersecurity, chartered accountancy, risk, law and engineering.

How This Vacancy Compares
These are all-India posts, and selected officers can be transferred to any branch or office of the Bank. Only candidates willing to work anywhere in India should apply — the notification states this clearly.
Added context, not part of the official notification — confirm with the hiring office: Direct Scale II to Scale VI officer recruitment of this size is uncommon. Most bank specialist recruitments (for example, IBPS SO or individual PSU bank SO drives) hire at Scale I or Scale II. Here, candidates with long experience can enter directly at senior scales without going through internal promotions. The trade-off against IBPS SO-type openings is that every single post here requires prior work experience, so freshers cannot apply.

Selection Process
The selection process depends on the scale of the post and the number of applicants. For posts up to Scale III, it may include an online examination, group discussion and/or personal interview. For Scale IV, V and VI posts, it may include group discussion and/or any other test and/or personal interview. The Bank may also call applicants directly for interview without an online exam.
- Online Examination (if conducted) — for Specialist posts S01 to S108 up to Scale III: 50 multiple choice questions on professional knowledge, 100 marks, 60 minutes. For General Banking posts G01 to G19 up to Scale III: Quantitative Aptitude (25 Q/25 marks), Reasoning (25/25), English Language (25/25) plus Professional Knowledge (50 Q/100 marks); 125 questions, 175 marks, 120 minutes. Sections 1–3 are qualifying only.
- Group Discussion / other test (if conducted).
- Personal Interview — 100 marks; minimum qualifying 50 marks (General/EWS) and 45 (reserved categories). Interview call ratio is 1:3 against vacancies.
- Document verification and pre-recruitment formalities, including medical examination.
One practical point from the notification: there is negative marking of one-fourth (25%) of the marks assigned to a question for each wrong answer in the online exam. Minimum qualifying marks per section are 40% for General/EWS and 35% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD.
Application Fee
The fee is non-refundable and payable online along with the application.
- SC/ST/PwBD candidates: Rs. 177 (inclusive of GST)
- UR/EWS/OBC candidates: Rs. 1,180 (inclusive of GST)
Bank transaction charges for online payment are borne by the candidate.

Should You Apply?
This recruitment suits working professionals, not freshers — every post needs post-qualification, full-time work experience, from 2 years (G14, G16) up to 15 years (Scale VI posts). The posts are permanent, regular officer positions with pay scales, allowances, quarters/lease rent and medical benefits, which makes them more secure than contract specialist roles some banks offer.
Be clear about three trade-offs before applying. First, posting can be anywhere in India at the Bank’s sole discretion; candidates unwilling to relocate should not apply. Second, selected candidates sign a service indemnity bond — Rs. 2 lakh (G posts) or Rs. 2.5 lakh (S posts) plus taxes if they leave before 3 years — with a 2-year probation. Third, you can apply for only one post, so pick the post code that best fits your experience certificate.
Added context, not part of the official notification — confirm with the hiring office: competition varies sharply by post. High-vacancy codes like General Banking Officer Scale II (40 posts), Forex Officer Scale II (40) and CA-Credit (45+30) usually draw large applicant pools, while many IT posts have a single vacancy, so selection there can hinge almost entirely on how closely your experience matches the listed domain.
FAQs
Can freshers apply for Union Bank Recruitment 2026-27?
No. Every post in this notification requires post-qualification work experience — a minimum of 2 years for the lowest-experience posts (G14 and G16) and up to 15 years for Scale VI posts. Only full-time experience after obtaining the minimum qualification counts, and clerical-cadre experience is excluded.
Can I apply for more than one post in Union Bank Recruitment 2026?
No. One candidate can apply for only one post. If multiple applications are submitted, only the last valid and complete application is retained. Appearing more than once in the interview for a single post leads to summary rejection of candidature.
What is the salary of Manager (MMGS-II) in Union Bank of India?
The pay scale for Manager MMGS-II is Rs. 64820-2340/1-67160-2680/10-93960, with an approximate CTC of Rs. 21 lakh as per the notification, plus DA, Special Allowance, quarters/lease rent, LFC and medical benefits. The CTC is tentative and varies with posting location and wage revision.
Is there an interview for all posts in Union Bank Recruitment 2026-27?
Selection for posts up to Scale III may include an online exam, GD and/or interview; Scale IV–VI posts may be selected through GD/other assessment and/or interview only. The Bank may call candidates directly for interview without an exam. Added context, not part of the official notification — confirm with the hiring office: for senior single-vacancy specialist posts, banks in practice often shortlist on experience and go straight to interview, so keep your experience certificates in the Annexure-II format ready early.
