🏢 What Jobs Will You Get?

Here is a simple breakdown of what each exam leads to:

SSC CHSL — Office Work in Government

You can become a Lower Division Clerk (LDC) or Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA) in central ministries, a Data Entry Operator (DEO) in departments like CAG or DARPG, or a Postal Assistant / Sorting Assistant (PA/SA) in India Post. These are desk jobs with regular hours, fixed holidays, and good promotions over time.

SSC Stenographer — Shorthand Typing Jobs

Grade D posts are in ministries and departments as office stenographers. Grade C is a higher post — you become a personal assistant to senior officers. Both require a shorthand test at the end (80 wpm for Grade D, 100 wpm for Grade C).

SSC MTS — Support Staff Across India

MTS staff handle office support work — filing, photocopying, carrying files, guarding rooms, and helping senior staff. Havaldar posts in CBIC (customs) and CBN include a physical fitness test. Not glamorous, but very stable — and a government job is a government job!

SSC CPO — Police Officer Life

You become a Sub-Inspector in forces like CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, or SSB. Delhi Police SI is also recruited through this exam. The job includes field duty, law and order work, and patrolling. Comes with good pay, uniform allowance, and housing benefits.

SSC GD Constable — Paramilitary Forces

This is the biggest SSC recruitment in terms of seats. You join forces like BSF, CRPF, CISF, or the Assam Rifles as a Constable. It requires physical fitness — running, height, chest measurements — plus a medical test. Perfect for candidates who are fit and want a life in uniform.

📝 How to Apply — Step by Step

  1. Register on SSC OTR Portal — Go to ssc.gov.in and complete your One-Time Registration (OTR). You do this only once. Save your OTR ID and password carefully.
  2. Wait for the Notification — When the official notification is released (see dates above), read it fully. It has the exact posts, vacancies, eligibility, and fee details.
  3. Fill the Online Form — Log in to your OTR account, choose the exam, fill in your details, upload your photo and signature (JPG, 20–50 KB for photo, 10–20 KB for signature).
  4. Pay the Application Fee — General/OBC candidates pay ₹100. SC/ST/Women/Ex-Servicemen are fee exempt. Pay through net banking, UPI, or debit card.
  5. Download Confirmation — Save the confirmation page and application number. You will need it to download your Admit Card later.
  6. Appear for the Exam — Download your Admit Card about 1–2 weeks before the exam. Carry it with a valid photo ID (Aadhar, Voter ID, etc.) to the exam center.

💡 Tip : SSC allows you to apply for multiple exams in the same year. If you are eligible for both CHSL and MTS, apply for both! More attempts = more chances of getting selected.

❓ Top 5 FAQs — Answered Clearly

01 – Are these exam dates confirmed? Can they change?

The SSC Exam Calendar 2026–27 is official but tentative. SSC releases it at the start of the financial year so candidates can plan their preparation. The exact date, city, and shift details come separately in each exam’s detailed notification. Dates can shift — sometimes by weeks. Always check ssc.gov.in for the latest updates and sign up for SSC email alerts.

02 – Can I apply for more than one SSC exam at the same time?

Yes! SSC allows you to apply to multiple exams in the same recruitment cycle — as long as you meet the eligibility for each one. For example, a 12th pass candidate aged 20 can apply for CHSL, Stenographer, and MTS all at once. You just pay the fee separately for each exam.

03 – Is there a physical test for all SSC exams?

No. Physical tests (PET/PST) are only for uniformed posts: GD Constable, MTS Havaldar, and CPO Sub-Inspector. For CHSL, Stenographer, and JHT, there is no physical test — only a written exam and a skill test (typing or shorthand). For GD Constable, the physical test includes a running race, height, and chest measurement (for men).

04 – How many vacancies will SSC announce in 2026?

SSC has not announced final vacancy numbers yet for most 2026 exams — those come with each notification. Based on previous years, SSC typically announces over 80,000 to 1 lakh+ vacancies across all exams in a year. GD Constable alone can bring 25,000–50,000 vacancies. CHSL and MTS are also high-volume. Exact numbers will be updated on this page when notifications drop.

05 – I am in my final year of graduation. Can I apply for SSC CPO 2026?

Yes, final-year graduation students can apply for most SSC exams — including CPO — on the condition that they complete their degree before the Document Verification stage. SSC allows this to give students enough time to finish their exams. However, you must present your degree certificate when called for DV, so make sure you pass!
