Selection Process — SSC CGLE 2025

The selection process for CGLE 2025 followed a structured merit-based system. Here is how it worked, step by step.

  1. Tier-I Examination — Computer-based preliminary test to shortlist candidates for Tier-II.
  2. Tier-II Examination — Descriptive/computer-based advanced paper. Marks scored here form the basis for final merit.
  3. First Round of Tentative Allocation (FRTA) — Preliminary post allocation based on merit-cum-preference, declared on 8th of April 2026.
  4. Sliding / Identity Verification (IV) Process — Candidates had to physically attend the Sliding/IV process between 13th–22nd of April 2026 (Northern Region) and 13th–18th of April 2026 (other regions) to exercise Fix/Float options. Candidates who did not attend were treated as absent and not considered in the final result.
  5. Final Allocation — Post-wise allocation finalised based on merit, candidate preference, and Fix/Float option. A total of 452 new allocations were also made against vacancies created due to absent candidates.
  6. Document Verification — To be conducted by the respective allocated departments. Candidates must wait for communication from their allocated department.
  7. Appointment — Final appointment after successful document verification and other formalities by the User Department.

If a shortlisted candidate does not receive any communication from the allocated department within 6 months from 14th of May 2026, they should contact the department directly. SSC will not handle post-result correspondence.

Tie-Breaking Rules — SSC CGLE 2025

In cases where two or more candidates scored the same marks in Tier-II, SSC resolved the tie by applying the following criteria in order:

  1. Marks scored in Paper-II of Tier-II (applicable for JSO/SI posts).
  2. Marks scored in Section-I of Paper-I of Tier-II.
  3. Date of birth — the older candidate was ranked higher.
  4. Alphabetical order of candidate names.

Result of 106 candidates has been kept withheld due to various reasons (details in List-3 of the official notification).

Additionally, as per the Order dated 23rd of February 2026 of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in SLP (C) No. 7246/2026, any allocations or appointments that are the subject matter of WP (C) No. 1733/2026 before the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi shall remain subject to the final outcome of that case.

What Happens Next After Final Result

Once the final result is out, here is what shortlisted candidates should do:

  1. Wait for communication from your allocated department regarding Document Verification dates and venue.
  2. Download your e-Dossier from the SSC website through the e-dossier module, which will be accessible to the Nodal Officers of the allocated departments.
  3. Do NOT send physical dossiers — SSC will compile dossiers electronically only.
  4. If no communication within 6 months (by 14th of November 2026), contact your allocated department directly.
  5. No Reserve List or Waiting List has been prepared by SSC. Unfilled vacancies will be carried forward to the next year by the respective departments.
  6. Fresh ranks have been assigned in this final result, which supersede the ranks from FRTA declared on 8th of April 2026.

SSC CGLE 2025

If you made it to this final result, congratulations — you have cleared one of India’s most competitive graduate-level exams. 15,118 candidates were selected from lakhs who appeared, which speaks to just how tough the competition is. The cut-offs for premium posts like JSO and Inspector are well above 370–394 marks, so clearing those bars takes serious preparation. Going forward, the Document Verification stage is what you must focus on — keep all your original certificates ready and respond promptly when your allocated department reaches out. For those who missed out this year, note that the cut-offs have been stiff across all categories, and targeted preparation on Tier-II Paper-I (Section-I) can make a real difference next time.

FAQs — SSC CGLE 2025 Final Result

1. What is the Fix/Float option in SSC CGLE 2025 and how did it affect the final result?

The Fix/Float option was exercised by candidates during the Sliding/Identity Verification process. “Fix” meant the candidate was satisfied with the tentative post allotted and did not want to change. “Float” meant the candidate was open to a better post if vacancies opened up due to absent candidates. A total of 10,165 candidates chose Fix and 4,501 chose Float. This directly determined final post allocation.

2. I was absent during the Sliding/IV process. Am I still in the final result?

No. As per Para 2 of the result notification, any candidate who failed to attend the Sliding/IV process physically has been treated as absent and was not considered in the final result.

3. What should I do if I don’t receive any communication from my allocated department?

If you do not receive any correspondence from your allocated department within 6 months from the declaration of the final result (i.e., by 14th of November 2026), you must contact the concerned department directly. SSC will not entertain any correspondence regarding Document Verification or appointment formalities.

4. Is there a waiting list for candidates who were not selected in CGLE 2025?

No. SSC has not prepared any Reserve List or Waiting List for CGLE 2025. Vacancies that remain unfilled will be carried forward to subsequent years by the respective departments.

5. How will I receive my e-Dossier after the final result?

SSC will compile dossiers electronically and make them available for download through the e-dossier module on the SSC website. The Nodal Officers nominated by your allocated User Department will access these dossiers. Physical dossiers should not be sent and will not be accepted.
