About State Bank of India (SBI)
State Bank of India is the country’s largest public sector bank, with its Central Recruitment & Promotion Department based at Corporate Centre, Mumbai, running this hiring exercise. This particular drive is for SBI’s Wealth Management business, which serves affluent, HNI and UHNI clients through its Zonal, Regional, Relationship Manager and Investment Specialist/Officer teams. For a candidate, a role in this vertical means working with SBI’s own client base rather than that of a private bank or standalone AMC. Candidates exploring similar openings can browse the site’s Government Jobs category for other public-sector recruitment.

Local context / how it compares
This is a pan-India recruitment spread across 17 circles, from Amaravati and Bengaluru to Thiruvananthapuram, so it is not restricted to any one state. Candidates based in Darjeeling, Siliguri or the wider North Bengal region who work in banking or wealth management will find Kolkata the nearest relevant option — it is fixed as the posting location for Zonal Head (East Zone) and also appears as one of the 17 circles for Relationship Manager-Team Lead, Investment Specialist, VP Wealth and AVP Wealth. Compared to typical public-sector recruitment on this site, this drive stands out for being contract-based rather than a permanent government post, and for hiring at a senior, experienced level rather than through a written exam.

SBI Specialist Cadre Officer Recruitment 2026 – Selection process
The selection process for SBI Specialist Cadre Officer Recruitment 2026 has three stages, and clearing minimum eligibility alone does not guarantee an interview call.
- Shortlisting — SBI’s shortlisting committee decides the parameters and shortlists an adequate number of candidates for interview. This decision is final; no correspondence is entertained.
- Interview — personal, telephonic or video interview carrying 100 marks. The qualifying marks are decided by the Bank.
- CTC negotiation — done individually with each candidate, either during the interview or after the interview process is complete.
The final merit list is prepared in descending order of interview marks only. If candidates tie at the cut-off, the older candidate is ranked higher. Outstation candidates called for interview after shortlisting are reimbursed the shortest-route travel fare (or actual cost, whichever is lower); local conveyance such as taxi or cab fares is not payable, and a candidate later found ineligible is not reimbursed at all.
Application fee
The application fee and intimation charge (non-refundable) is Rs 750 for UR, EWS and OBC candidates. SC, ST and PwBD candidates do not have to pay any fee. Once paid, the fee will not be refunded, and cannot be adjusted against any other examination or selection.
How to apply
- Visit the SBI careers page or the direct application portal, and download and read Advertisement No. CRPD/SCO/2026-27/23 in full before starting.
- Register online using a valid email ID, and keep it active until the result is declared — call letters and interview advices are sent only by email, with no hard copy.
- Scan a recent photograph and signature before filling the form (see size specifications below), since the application cannot be registered without uploading both.
- Fill in the application carefully. It can be saved and reopened up to three times using the system-generated registration number and password if it isn’t completed in one go.
- Upload all required documents, then pay the application fee online through Debit Card, Credit Card or Internet Banking. No changes can be made to the form after payment.
- Print and retain the e-receipt and the final application form; a reprint option is available later if needed.
Documents to keep ready:
- Recent passport-style colour photograph (20–50 kb, 200×230 px, light background, no cap/hat/dark glasses)
- Signature signed on white paper with black ink and scanned (10–20 kb, 140×60 px; not in capital letters)
- Brief resume/bio-data and CTC format
- ID proof and PAN card
- Educational mark-sheets and degree certificates
- Experience certificates
- Form-16 / offer letter / latest salary slip from the current employer
- Caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC-Non-Creamy Layer, on the Government-prescribed format)
- PwBD certificate, where applicable
- No Objection Certificate, for candidates in Government/PSU/SBI Group employment
All documents except the photograph and signature must be uploaded as PDF, A4 size, not exceeding 500 kb each. Candidates whose scanned files run over these limits can use the site’s Photo & Signature Resizer and PDF Compressor tools to bring them within the prescribed size before uploading.

Should you apply for SBI Specialist Cadre Officer Recruitment 2026?
SBI Specialist Cadre Officer Recruitment 2026 suits candidates already working in wealth management, private banking or asset management who want a senior, client-facing role on a large public-sector platform. VP Wealth and AVP Wealth carry the most vacancies (91 and 73), so candidates already working as Relationship Managers in similar HNI/UHNI-facing roles have the widest opening among the seven posts; Zonal Head and Regional Head, in contrast, need well over a decade of experience leading large sales teams and have only 1 and 5 vacancies respectively, making them the most competitive at this level. (This framing is added context, not part of the official notification — confirm your own fit against the eligibility table above.)
One trade-off worth weighing before applying: this is a contract engagement, not a permanent SBI post. The five-year term can be extended by four more years at the Bank’s discretion, but either side can end it with two months’ notice. Circle preference is also not a guarantee — the Bank can post a selected candidate to any circle regardless of the three choices submitted, and candidates who previously received an offer letter for a Wealth Management/Premier Banking post but did not join are barred from applying for two years.

Is the SBI SCO Wealth Management role a good career move?
