About the organisation

Sainik School Bijapur is run as a joint venture between the Ministry of Defence and the Government of Karnataka. It is located on Athani Road, Vijayapura district, Karnataka, and runs as a residential school — the notice itself states that the selected candidate should be ready to take on responsibilities usual to a residential school. This recruitment, Advertisement No. 01/2026, fills regular teaching and support staff positions at the Bijapur campus.

Local context

This recruitment is open to candidates from anywhere in India — the notice does not restrict eligibility by state of residence, except that General Employees (MTS) must know Kannada, Hindi and English. Teaching posts (PGT and TGT) carry an all-India transfer liability across Sainik Schools, while the General Employee category does not. Candidates from outside Karnataka who are shortlisted should be prepared to travel to Vijayapura for the selection process, and to relocate there — and potentially elsewhere later, given the transfer liability — if selected.

This last point on possible relocation beyond Vijayapura is added context, not part of the official notice.

Selection process

Selection is through a written test, practical test or interview — the notice names all three but does not state which stage applies to which post.

  1. Screening of applications received by the last date.
  2. Written test, practical test or interview, as decided by the school for each post.
  3. Only shortlisted candidates are informed and called; there is no separate rejection notice.

No TA/DA is paid for attending the test or interview, or for joining the post.

Application fee

The application fee is Rs. 500, payable as a non-refundable crossed Demand Draft in favour of Principal, Sainik School Bijapur, payable at State Bank of India, Sainik School Bijapur Campus Branch (IFSC Code: SBIN0003163). The notice does not mention any fee concession for any category.

How to apply

  1. Download the application form from the official website, www.sssbj.in.
  2. Fill the form and affix a passport-size photograph in the space provided.
  3. Attach self-attested copies of educational and experience certificates, plus a Caste/Category Certificate if applying under SC, ST or OBC (Non-Creamy Layer, Central list).
  4. Attach a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the current employer, if applicable.
  5. Attach the Rs. 500 Demand Draft and a self-addressed envelope bearing Rs. 55 postage.
  6. Send the complete application by Speed Post so it reaches: Principal, Sainik School Bijapur, Athani Road, District – Vijayapura, Karnataka – 586108, within the last date.

Documents to keep ready

  • Demand Draft for Rs. 500 (non-refundable)
  • Passport-size photograph
  • Self-addressed envelope with Rs. 55 postage
  • Copies of educational and experience certificates
  • Caste/Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates)
  • No Objection Certificate from previous employer

Keeping a photocopy of the full application and enclosures before posting it is added context, not part of the official notice, but a sensible safeguard given the school states it is not responsible for postal delay or a missing envelope.

Should you apply?

This recruitment suits candidates who already hold the exact subject qualification and, for most TGT posts, CTET Paper-II — someone still completing a B.Ed or CTET will not be ready for this cycle. Most posts have only one or two vacancies, so competition per subject is likely to be sharp even though the notice does not publish applicant numbers. There are real trade-offs: teaching posts carry an all-India transfer liability across Sainik Schools, the campus is a residential school with duties beyond regular classroom hours, and MTS candidates are expected to know Kannada, Hindi and English. In return, the pay comes with rent-free accommodation, subsidised education for two children, LTC, bonus and the New Pension Scheme under Sainik Schools Society rules — benefits that sit on top of the basic pay shown in the table above, and this is a regular, pensionable government post rather than a contract role.

The framing above — on competitiveness, readiness, and trade-offs — is added context, not part of the official notice.
