Should You Apply?

NERIE Shillong Recruitment 2026 is suitable for candidates from the North East region who want a contractual government post under NCERT. The JPF posts are a good fit for master’s degree holders who are preparing for NET, PhD admission, or further academic project work. The monthly stipend of ₹35,000 to ₹37,000, along with the NCERT affiliation on the CV, makes it a useful step for early-career researchers. Based on past hiring cycles at NCERT Regional Institutes, JPF candidates often move into PhD programmes or progress to SRF and RA positions — this is editorial context, not a guarantee.

The Studio Staff posts pay between ₹42,000 and ₹50,000 per month and are open only to candidates with relevant media production experience. The 45-year age ceiling makes these posts unsuitable for late-career switchers without prior experience. The Computer Typist and ECCE Helper posts are entry-level jobs best suited for local candidates from Ri-Bhoi and East Khasi Hills districts. The main trade-off across all posts is the contractual nature — tenure for most posts ends on 31 March 2027 and renewal is not guaranteed.

FAQs — NERIE Shillong Recruitment 2026

Is there an online application form for NERIE Shillong Recruitment 2026?

No. The entire recruitment process is offline through walk-in interview. Candidates need to fill the Annexure-I form, attach photocopies and a passport photo, and submit it in person at the interview venue on the assigned date.

Can a candidate attend the walk-in for more than one post?

The notification does not address this directly. Since the dates are spread across 16–19 June with different posts on different days, a candidate who qualifies for multiple posts may attend on each scheduled date. Confirm with the NERIE office on 0364-2570009 before travel.

What is a Junior Project Fellow (JPF) at NCERT and where does it lead?

A JPF is a research post attached to a specific funded academic project under a Programme Coordinator. Editorial context: JPF stints at NCERT institutes commonly lead to PhD admissions, SRF or RA progression, or further project work at SCERT, RIE or university research centres.

Is accommodation available for outstation candidates during the interview?

The notification mentions paid guest house accommodation only for selected candidates, subject to availability. For the interview day, candidates should arrange their own stay in Shillong or near Umiam Lake.

No. The notification clearly states that no TA/DA is admissible for attending the interview. Travel and stay expenses are to be borne by the candidate.
