IRFC CBT 2026 Exam Date – What You Need to Do Before the Exam

  • 16 May 2026 – Check your email and phone. IRFC will send exam city intimation to all eligible candidates on their registered email IDs. SMS alerts will also be sent to registered mobile numbers. Check your spam folder too.
  • 18 May 2026 – Log in to the portal. Exam city details will go live on the Online Application Portal. Log in using your USER ID and Password to see your allotted exam city. Do this early so you have time to arrange travel.
  • 26 May 2026 – Download your E-Admit Card. The admit card will be available on the application portal on IRFC’s website. IRFC will also send an Email/SMS alert. Print it out and check all details carefully.
  • 26 May 2026 – Try the Static Mock Test. A static mock link will be available on IRFC’s website to help you get familiar with the exam interface and environment. Use it – it will reduce nervousness on exam day.
  • 31 May 2026 – Appear for the CBT. Carry your printed E-Admit Card and a valid photo ID. Reach your exam centre before the reporting time mentioned on your admit card.

IRFC Exam Question Pattern - marks Distribution and CBT Exam Guidelines

General & Timing

  • Duration: 90 minutes.
  • Auto-Submit: A countdown timer is in the top right. The exam ends automatically when it hits zero; no manual submission is needed.
  • Language: Click your profile image (top right) to change the exam language via the dropdown.
  • Screen Controls: Click > to hide the question palette (maximize view) and < to bring it back. Use the top/bottom arrow buttons to jump vertical pages without scrolling.

Question Palette Status

  1. Unvisited: You haven’t looked at the question yet.
  2. Not Answered: You looked at it but left it blank.
  3. Answered: Question is completed and saved.
  4. Marked for Review: Flagged to look at later (unanswered).
  5. Answered & Marked for Review: Crucial: These will not be graded. You must clear the review tag for them to count.

Navigating & Answering

  • Direct Jump: Click any number on the right palette to go to that question (this does not save your current progress).
  • Select Answer: Click an option bubble.
  • Change/Remove Answer: Click a different option to change it, or click Clear Response to deselect.
  • Saving is Mandatory: You must click Save & Next to lock in your answer.
  • Review Later: Click Mark for Review & Next to flag it and move on.

Section Switching

  • Manual Jump: Click the section names listed on the top bar to switch between them anytime.
  • Auto Jump: Clicking Save & Next on the final question of a section automatically moves you to the next section.
  • Summary: View your progress stats in the legend above the question palette.
