For all four engineering disciplines, lateral entry to the 3rd semester of an 8-semester course, or the 2nd year of a 4-year course, is treated as equivalent. A postgraduate integrated degree of 5 years’ duration after 10+2 is also allowed for the engineering disciplines.
Across all five disciplines, candidates need a minimum of 1 year of relevant post-qualification experience, or 1 year of Graduate Apprenticeship training, as on 31 July 2026. Apprenticeship in any industry counts as experience.
Age limit (as on 31 July 2026, same across all disciplines): UR/EWS — 28 years; OBC(NCL) — 31 years; SC/ST — 33 years. Age relaxation applies for PwBD candidates as per Government of India guidelines, and for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/Ex-Servicemen/Agniveers as per existing government norms. Selection process
Selection runs through three stages, weighted into a single final grading.
- Written Test — 25% General Aptitude and 75% subject/trade-related questions, conducted as a Computer Based Test (CBT) or Pen Paper Based Test (PBT). Qualifying marks: 40% for General/EWS, 35% for SC/ST/PwBD/OBC(NCL).

Outstation candidates called for the Group Discussion/Interview are paid to-and-fro AC II-tier rail fare by the shortest route from their registered nearest railway station to GSL, on production of proof of journey (hard copy of tickets), and this travel allowance is paid only through ECS mode.
