Should You Apply?

This suits doctors who want a contractual government hospital posting without going through a written exam, and who can join quickly. Full Time Specialists get a near-lakh-and-a-half monthly pay with a defined weekday-and-Saturday schedule, extendable up to three years. Part Time Specialists get a lighter 16-hour week, useful for someone balancing another commitment, though the pay is proportionately lower and no leave or benefits apply. Senior Residents get one year of structured hospital experience at a competitive stipend, useful for someone early in their specialty career, but the post is capped at one year with no extension beyond that.

The honest trade-off is job security: these are contract roles, not permanent government posts, and the appointing authority can end the contract with one month’s notice, without giving a reason. Competition will depend on the specialty — departments with a single UR vacancy (like Ophthalmology or Psychiatry) will likely see fewer eligible walk-in candidates than a high-volume department like Accident & Emergency, which has 6 Senior Resident posts open. Candidates already serving 3 years as Senior Resident elsewhere are not eligible to apply here.

FAQs

Is there a written exam for this recruitment? No. The notification does not mention any written test. Selection is entirely through the walk-in interview on 21 July 2026, based on document verification and the interview itself.

Can a diploma holder apply for the Senior Resident post? Yes, a Diploma in the concerned specialty after MBBS is accepted for Senior Resident posts. However, diploma holders and non-degree/diploma holders are not eligible for the allowance that PG degree holders receive, so the effective pay will be lower than the ₹1,40,817 figure stated for degree holders.

Is there a difference in age limit between Specialist and Senior Resident posts? Yes. Part Time/Full Time Specialists can be up to 69 years old as on the date of interview, with no tenure allowed beyond 70. Senior Residents must not exceed 45 years, with relaxation for reserved categories as per rules.

Will selected candidates get hostel or quarters accommodation? No. The notification clearly states that hostel accommodation or quarters will not be provided. Senior Residents are additionally required to reside close enough to the hospital to be available on call 24×7.
