About the organisation
MCF, Hassan is a constituent unit of ISRO under the Department of Space. It monitors and controls all of ISRO’s geo-synchronous communication satellites, handling orbit raising, in-orbit payload testing, and in-orbit operations for the full life of each satellite. MCF’s round-the-clock work includes Tracking, Telemetry and Commanding (TT&C) operations. For an apprentice, this means direct exposure to live satellite operations rather than a classroom-only training year.

How this compares to similar openings
This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the hiring office.
Apprenticeships like this one are common across ISRO’s other centres and across many central PSUs, and most run on the same pattern: a one-year, non-permanent training period linked to registration on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal, with the Apprentices Act, 1961 as the governing law. What sets this MCF Hassan notification apart is its breadth — it covers five engineering disciplines, library science, commercial practice, and general-degree streams (BA/B.Com/B.Sc) in a single circular, so candidates from very different academic backgrounds can apply under one notification rather than searching separately.

Should you apply?
This apprenticeship suits recent graduates and diploma holders (2022–2026 pass-outs) who want practical, resume-building experience at an ISRO facility and are comfortable relocating to Hassan, Karnataka, for one year. It does not suit candidates who already hold a year or more of job experience, have completed another apprenticeship, or need a permanent income immediately — the notice states plainly that apprentices have no claim to regular employment in ISRO or any other Department of Space unit after the training period ends.
The honest trade-off is stipend versus experience: ₹12,300 or ₹10,900 a month is well below a typical starting salary, and the training carries no employment guarantee. This is added context, not part of the official notification: given ISRO’s national reputation and the open, all-India eligibility, competition for these posts is likely to be considerable, even though the notice gives no applicant numbers. Candidates who value the ISRO name and hands-on satellite-operations exposure on their resume are the best fit; those who need immediate financial security are better served by a regular vacancy.

The last date to apply is 3 August 2026. Applications must be emailed to apprentice@mcf.gov.in after registering on the NATS portal; there is no other application mode mentioned in the circular.

Graduate Apprentice Trainees (GAT) receive ₹12,300 per month, and Technician Apprentice Trainees (TAT) receive ₹10,900 per month, for a training period of 12 months.

Indian nationals who passed their qualifying Degree or Diploma as regular candidates between 2022 and 2026, and who can join within 5 years of passing, are eligible. Ex-apprentices and candidates with a year or more of job experience are not eligible.
Does the ISRO MCF apprenticeship lead to a permanent job at ISRO?
No. This is added context, not part of the official notification — confirm with the hiring office. The circular itself states apprentices have no claim to regular employment in ISRO or any Department of Space unit after training, though the practical experience can still add value on a resume for future government or PSU applications.
